The PSP is designed to play PS1 games. Sony sells PS1 games off of the PSN that you can buy and put on it. So the PSP basically has a built in emulator. To run homebrew PSX-PSP games though you need CFW. Popsloader I forget its exact purpose, google it if you really wanna know, but basically it allows you to play some PS1 games that you can't play without it.

@SquirlKiller Not a Ps1 emulator it's a fucking PSX Disc image that was converted using Popstation and it was tossed in the games folder like every other Eboot psp demo or homebrew game. You also need CFW... But that's a no brainer. You'd be surprised how many people ask "Do I need CFW" after download a PSP CSO image. (as if Sony is just going to LET YOU download games and play them for free) No that's Dark Alex's job.

all u have to do is first start the game without IR Shell, hold R and change the pops, go back to IR Shell and the pops version changes to something else that supports it.

of course u need to install the patch which allows u to play adhoc first tho

no emulator. just get popsloader. my suggestion is use popsloader full pack fr 5.00 m33 (obviously you need 5.00 m33) and autopopstation to convert the ps1 iso or bin files. google is your friend

is it custom firmware? You can only do this stuff (and much much more) with custom firmware only. You have to downgrade first to 1.5 and then upgrade with a custom firmware. Downgraders I believe only go up to 3.03 firmware so far, but you can use the Lumines hack with 3.5 firmware to downgrade. So yea, you won't be able to upgrade to custom firmware for a while. Sorry D:

Try reading irshell1's comments before posting. The white faceplate doesn't line up correctly with the LEDs, thus you wont see the lights.
