@NilsKills They make a LOT of noise when laying. Roosters will crow all day. Even if you live in a city where chickens are legal, I would check with any close neighbors first. 6am gets pretty rowdy in the backyard.
That's so cool. I have 8 hens but never had a double yolk. I have had fairy eggs which are tiny and yolkless. And what I call bullet eggs because my Rhode Island Red lays these really long eggs but they are normal inside.
@destroyahdes I've gotten all kinds of weird eggs - shell-less, double yolks, "bullet eggs", fart eggs. It's always an adventure going into the laying boxes in the morning!
i hv 3 chickens 1 of the girl who is bigger than the others lays double yolker most of the time,it seem they stop after a while, i hv had them since 5 months...BTW they r not silly at all, they r so smart that they know me and recognise my voice, i love them ;-)
Most new layers sometimes lay double yokers(or even triple yokers) in their first few weeks of laying. then the chicken will lay normal eggs, so enjoy them while they last.
It's imposible to hatch a double yoke egg, because there just isn't enough space inside the egg for two chicks.
@nothernmonday My chickens are a year old now, and I just got a double-yolk today. But you're right... soon after I made this video, the double yolks stopped completely. I'm learning so much. Chickens are such silly animals.
@nothernmonday ummm no its not impossible. its very much possible mostly if they are hatched by humans if not both will die or one will most likely die. its not impossible at all though (: look up videos on it its quite cute.

@NilsKills Eggs from the store come in all sizes, but all factory farmed chickens are bred for their specific color, laying ability, and weight.

What breed did you get the double yolker from?
lulubie 10 months ago
@lulubie most of my double yolkers come from my Black Cochin hens

@nothernmonday There is at least one case of a twin hatching. A lady from BYC had a double hatch. I believe the video is on youtube.

@nothernmonday it isnt impossible to hatch double yolkers. look at the username 'needmorechickens' she hatched a double yolker.
Joseph01Young02 1 year ago
@Joseph01Young02 Fair enough. It wouldn't be possible unless she helped the chicks to hatch though. Left under a hen, they'd have no chance.
