God, this song was was huge and was so well written! I'm surprised Kip's voice is doing as well as it is here because it was written in such a high key. Great mystique to this song. Reb Beach was a monster on guitar... OMG time whenever he played leads. I'm glad Ibanez had that guitar made for him. Very cool of them to have a Reb Beach model...
besides the fact that this guy is TOTALLY good looking.. Aside from that...lol His voice is amazing and his guitar player ROCKS and they ARE MONDO talented songwriters ( or whoever wrote these songs) The changes are beautiful. I LOVE KIP...

Hey here's a good match up. Kip Winger or Micheal Anthony from Van Halen??? both have great voices when singing and have great talent. which ones better??
@coldbluerain I remember listening to Seventeen followed by Easy Come, Easy Go in 1991, and I was 18. Listening to their music in 2005 brought back my love for 80's Metal.
The "Beavis&Butthead" thing did some harm, together with the "Seattle scene"...but Kobain is no more...and where are Beavis&Butthead now...!!All i know is that Winger are riding the crest of a wave ...and so they should...!!!
the ending is a great way to grow as a musician. (they are already there) if i had a band i would cover this..... and i would make it about 10min, add a few more verses, just let everyone have a turn just jammin. just stellar.
@lookingatcrap People can laugh all they want: they're probably just jealous and angry. Step up to the plate and do better. This is one of the most under rated bands ever. They are all amazing musicians, and really nice guys.

I always wondered about that too. However, the majority of citizens outthere do not understand music. i know. i totally, completely, 100% agree... I just discovered this band to be honest about a month ago...and... i was speechless the minute i watched the Headed for a Heartbreak music video, along with the Seventeen video.
Good. GOd.
every cell in his body was carved by and angel. lol xD
I saw Alice Cooper when Kip played. He was pretty good. Too bad he got blasted on a stupid cartoon (Beavis and Butthead) and became the butt of too many jokes - he's a talented guy.
I just noticed the keyboard player plays flat fingered. That is really bad technique. But they sound awesome. Too bad their consequent CDs after this were not as good.
I think it sounds sharp because during the chorus, he sounds like his hand is choked up to much on the plam muted lead. The pitch sounds higher when that happens. It sounds normal otherwise.
Pearl Jam wasn't that shitty though, they had some pretty good stuff, but yeah, a lot of bands sucked in that genre sucked, the sludging chord mashing riffs had nothing on this. I seen Winger in concert in February, I was so happy to see them, I was only 1 when the band came out, so having the chance to actually see them, awesome, and Reb Beach has only gotten better on guitar, the solo he just ripped out was awesome, it was up there with Vai and all those virtuosos.
LOL, are you kidding me? I know this was said 6 months ago but it has to be said: you're plain retarded, pal.
Pearl Jam is talented. It's funny you say that, because if we're going to talk about guitar chops, PJ in fact stood out big time compared to similar acts like Nirvana.
Pearl Jam isn't the second coming of christ.. they're a well known band with a couple of decent songs.. overrated. Nirvana has some good stuff, but mentioning that Pearl Jam is more talented than Nirvana isn't really saying much. They both have their strong points, but instrumental talent isn't really one of them. Which was the initial point of this topic.
Except the solos were fine, just the fills sound off. Hmmm. The solo was friggin awesome, and Kips voice is just golden as always. These guys are right up there with Kings X. Totally were never really given the right kind of attention for whatever reason and completely underrated for songwriting ability.
When you are muting on a Floyed Rose equiped guitar it will be sharp. When you play the solo it will be in pitch. That's just the way THAT tremelo works.
I'll correct myself too. Ibanez MADE those for him. Obviously he's with Suhr guitars now. Mahogany and koa bodies. $300 in parts? You're on crack. The EMGs alone would cost around $200 I think.
a piece of Koa wood for a body of a guitar is very expensive...at least a good piece...i'm having one made for me right now and the body piece alone was 500-600 bucks. Like I said, it's a great piece...but expensive.
It astonishes me how such a stupid argument could erupt from a single comment. It's pretty simple: if you apply even a small amount of pressure on a bridge that is suspended in a cavity rather than resting on solid wood, the pitch will be a bit sharp!
Sad thing about winger is they came to the scene to late. Just like skid row, warrant, firehouse, and a few others. By the time they got big. The industry just total turned on the whole metal scene. Though I guess being big time for a few years is more then one could ask for. But you know they got to miss it.
ya, they had a few years in the limelight, more than most bands ever get...for awhile you couldn't get away from Winger around 1988-1990...but 1993's PULL release took so long to finish in the studio (not to mention 400 grand) that I think they missed the last part
of the window. Such a great album, that missed it's window for platinum status by maybe a year to 18 months IMO.
The 90's really screwed over bands like these guys. Def Leppard was one of the few that survived and they are my favorite. There Adrenalize album was awesome and would of got bigger if it wouldnt of been for grunge in 1993 at that time.
damn you're saying it... All my favorites like warrant, firehouse and winger became big at the beginning 90s... That already was the beginning of the end of hair metal
reb is fucking amazing, he truly is. i saw Winger yesterday in NY i was standing in front of him the whole time watching his every move on guitar..JUST PLAIN SICK.

ya it's a bit off, his strings probably stretched, that's a common problem with floating tremelos, especially when you're changing strings daily and also changing your
I always loved this song and the guitar solo reb blows up at the end is very nice.Kip is really a great singer he can get dirty and mean or he can get clean.
Awesome live mix! Kip is one of the best rock frontmen ever, he really had it all here. His bass lines are purposefully sparse so he can focus on singing. If I were writing music of this type, and had to sing lead, I'd do the same thing. I love this song, best rock ballad since Open Arms, and every bit as good...classy, original airy feel, great solo, and easy to understand. Listen to those monster chords on
Wow, what a great showman Kip was, I've never a bass player that spends as much time with his hands off his insterment, it's pretty cool to watch, Jack Blades of Night Ranger plays like that also.
Never cared too much for Winger, but this song is amazing and Kip is a great bass player and singer.

Really depends. They all have a different feel.
Winger - Self titled is there original. Very emotional hard rock sound. Great guitars and drums.

Pull - Very hard album. This was Kip saying F-U haters Winger can kick ass your asses.

ya it's a bit off, his strings probably stretched, that's a common problem with floating tremelos, especially when you're changing strings daily and also changing your
environment (humidity, temperature).

Listen to those monster chords on
that guy...sick.

Wow, what a great showman Kip was, I've never a bass player that spends as much time with his hands off his insterment, it's pretty cool to watch, Jack Blades of Night Ranger plays like that also.
