Somebody is asking me to change my 175 for one X500 and I dont know what to do, I love the Montgomery sound and I think the Guild is more similar. Do you think that is a good change?
@Michael55443 Many of my favorite players played BIG giutars,so I just had to have one. I bought that guitar in '76. Thank you for checking out my videos.
I always wanted a Guild x-175 or a 500. Ive only played a couple of x-175's but they seemed so easy to play and sounded just like an l5 without the carved top. Seems that guild make there tops and backs more arched than the gibson's and they are more resistant to feedback. Seems like Guild do their own thing yet make amazing results with materials you wouldnt normal think of like laminate tops.
@Goergebenson Thank you for checking out some of my videos. I bought the guild in '76 and it has been a good reliable guitar. I think part of that is because of the laminated top, but my favorite guitar to work with in recent years is the Gibson 330. I appreciate the playing on your video.
@whitbyjet65 Thank you for viewing my videos. The reason for the headphones is because there was no playback system for the track in the room in which I was recording. This is also the case with my Byrdland video. The reason for the headset on the Soulful Strut video is because my amp was covered with a packing quilt to keep it from leaking through the overhead drum mic. I feel I play better if I can hear my tone well.
Thank you for your answer, I forgot to tell you that I love how it sounds in you hands, that´s why im thinking about change it. Sorry for my english!
