  • How will the Democrats defeat this determined enemy?

Islamic Fascist want to convert America to Islam, or make us slaves, or kill us to achieve an Islamic State. Negotiating with them will not change their minds or stop them from making war. On the contrary, appeasement is victory to our enemy no matter how small the concession.

  • And the way to deal with this threat is...

  • what happened to the afterparty videos? lol. too sloshed? :-)

    lush

  • Hey Rudy, how did you know the towers were coming down? Did you marry your cousin because she would let you wear womans clothing? Boxers, briefs or pink women's panties? Rudy, how can you sleep at night? Do the dead haunt you? Do you see bodies falling out of the sky in your dreams? I am posting here because YouTube censors anything negative about Rudy under his videos. Thats why there are no posts under most of his videos.

  • Ginger: You should consider making a video to voice your opinions. YouTube is great to get debates going. I would look forward to seeing it! :)

  • I'm not for or against any candidate at the moment but I was making a statement based on Gravel's presentation (and only this presentation) at the YouTube debates. It would be nice to hear what Gravel has to say on a variety of issues ESPECIALLY his stances on campaign spending. Fact is, plenty of things ANGER us to a point where we feel the need to rant as he did... but we don't. He really should just learn to control himself and that's my only point I was trying to make.

  • I actually disagree. If Gravel would just calm down a bit and stop outwardly attacking his fellow democrats, they would probably have let him answer a great deal more. Every time he was given the opportunity, he would cause controversy. He was just a bad sport overall.

  • Yeah when people tell the truth they are being bad sports. This is a fight for the presidency everything should be laid down on the table.

  • Someone asks him a question and then he goes ranting and raving about another candidate about a completely unrelated subject. Frankly, it has little to do with his truthfulness and more to do with his inability to control his bouts of rage. Why would we want someone for president who can't control his emotions like a civil human being? Is this too much to ask for? I'm all for someone having PASSION but there is a fine line between PASSION and HOSTILITY.

  • If there is a point behind the hostility I don't mind. Stuff he said when he had his small time frame was relatable to things discussed and wasn't given a chance to, he was fighting for his time and it was compelling, Obama and others like to curtail their answers too--its still not clear about his bundles for example. Anyway I just like that someone is there to put top tiers in check. I actually am going to vote for Ron Paul, whom I'm sure youd have a harder time criticising.

  • Great analysis. I like you mention Mike Gravel answered question directly. It's so annoying to hear Obama, Hilary, or Edward answer question indirectly.

  • Maybe it's just because I'm one of those "young, internet-savvy" voters they keep talking about, but I was amazed at how much more interesting this was than the standard sound bite debates. When was the last time Jim Lehrer asked Obama if he was black enough? Great job in helping make this happen James.

  • I like the red neck questions. I wish the Republican debates weren't so far away.

  • *question

  • I would have liked to have heard more about immigration issues.

  • Sorry I watched this and I am still wondering exactly what plans if any these people will do to help America get better I herd allot of puff and smoke? But no real answers If you want real answers and not a smoke screen listen to Ron Paul he is the only choice for 2008.

  • Ron Paul 2008 Bring it, 10 term congressman, Did not vote for the war, Has always voted against pay increases for congress, he has refused his fat congressional pension and free colleage for his children, Ron has vowed to secure the borders and clean up our illegal immigration problem unlike any of these demos who want to give away citizen ship for 5000 dollars per illegal.

  • Ron Paul will destroy the patriot act, The military commissions act, directive 51 and then restore habeas corpus and the civil liberties of Americans, Vote for freedom Vote for Ron Paul

  • I've learned more from the comments than I have from your posting. I guess you're speaking only to people who have actually had to chance to watch it. OH, well.....

  • The Democratic Debate was basically a lovefest. The Republican Debate is going to be a slugfest. Hopefully, the YouTube community will let those guys have it right between the eyes.

  • I think Obama was the clear winner of the debate. Cheers to James for unbias analysis.

  • I personally though Obama and Hillary gave very political answers, you know where they say alot but nothing of substance is really ever said..

  • mail cnn....tell anderson cooper to apologise for the unfair treatment of mike....tell him he should be ashmaed and that you are ashamed to watch cnn after this.....just type in 'contact cnn' in your search...and then send a mail to anderson 360.....we cannot let cnn get away with shit like this,

most trusted name my ass....most sold out name in news it should be

  • the predictability of this entire event hurts my brain

  • Why was the healthcare issue glossed over so quickly. It was very clear that the candidates wanted to talk about it more, Who made that terrible decision

  • Debating the Debate: CNN/Youtube dems, Charlotte(SC) 7/23/07

    watch?v=zlb_tLQKCNM

  • The questions were sorted, edited and prearranged by CNN and youtube. What a joke.

  • I'm kind of glad they didn't give equal floortime. Gravel. . . meh. He's like the crazy uncle who you're embarassed to be around. Certainly didn't tone down those "irrational bouts of anger" like you suggested, James.

Kucinich did well. Hillary had the least to gain here, and didn't gain much. I think Edwards and Obama and even Richardson might have benefitted most.

  • Each of us has someone we don't want to see. It's all relative.

  • I was asleep during the debates (it's Eeastern Time + 7 hours here in Israel). Does anyone know if there's a recording of the debate available online? I've tried looking around YouTube and the CNN site, but i couldn't find such a posting.

  • I've just seen on CNN there will be a replay of the debates starting at 8:00AM GMT (that's roughly in 2 hours).

  • Try YTdebates. Right after the debates I viewed the most recent postings on YT and clips of the debates were posted by question number (question 17, question 18, etc.) I posted a comment on one of the clips. When I tried to access more clips, they didn't appear under most recent. It took me awhile to find the clips and I added YTdebates to my favorites so I could continue to access clips.

  • Thanks. I've already caught in on TV.

  • The "black enough" question really caught me by surprise. I was completely focused on whether Richardson was Mexican enough, or Hillary was female enough...

  • Hey James! It's good to see you so excited! You look like you're on a 6 cups of coffee high!

    : )

You're predictions were pretty much spot on! It would be nice if this was only the first of a series of Youtube debates- maybe one every month or two! We can never have enough of the candidates being asked what they'll do if elected.

  • Rocking Job - You tube did own it!

    Sparkles

  • My complaint is that key questions weren't routinely asked of EACH candidate, especially simple YES/NO questions like healthcare for non-citizens. Such a missed opportunity. Without across the board answers it's difficult to draw any real conclusions.

I also don't see the point of silliness like the snowman video. Less humor, more focus on the issues. If I want humor, I'll find a Seinfeld rerun.

  • The questions were great. CNN Sucks! I'm sick and tired of the media marginalizing certain candidates and focusing more on others. It's their top tier/bottom tier labeling that keeps the real debate from happening. CNN decides which candidate gets to answer the question. That's no debate. I'd rather have all of the candidates answer the same set of questions then have more questions asked then they can answer in a short period of time.

  • I do agree with that. I like hearing each of the candidate's position on the same question, so you can get a better feel for where each is the same & where different...

  • I agree. I would like to see a forum where the top, say 20, questions are chosen by the youtube community and then the candidates were given the opportunity to answer each via video blogging. All responses would be posted at the same time the following day. Candidates would then be free to respond to each other freely. MSM debates are pathetic.

  • Thomas and I scanned the audience for you but were sorry not to see you or your question. So glad you got to be there and we look forward to seeing your debate analysis vids. Hi to Emily!

  • Hey James, I agree that it was a big success -- the candidates had go beyond the scripts and stump speeches. Still, it was a good thing Anderson Cooper was moderating instead of Wolf Blitzer because he pinned them down more. My ranking are Hillary Clinton in 1st, Biden and Kucinich tied for 2nd, then Richardson in 3rd -- Obama made a speech almost every time he answered and just didn't say anything new.

  • Really good debate!! And as you said Jame WE owned the debate - that was the most important thing in my view! I hope other countries - in my case Brazil -, from now on, also use the same debate format!!

    cheers

  • Good job, James.

  • It's 3:40am here in the UK and I've been waiting the last few hours for your first vid! I enjoyed watching the debate, and I agree that it seemed very successful! It's hard to imagine going back to the old system from now on.

  • LOL! Hope you're in bed sleeping now James! You'll need your wits about you if the flooding moves north to your area! I'd sleep in a life jacket, just in case!
