It you REALLY want to hear it somewhat close to how it originally sounded, you will have to find some old recordings of a famous Swedish opera singer...

It was actually written in Sweden in 1885, long before being translated (more or less literally) into a number of different languages, including English, in the early 1900's...

Nevertheless, the golden throat of Johhny Cash does this hymn full justice, in my view!
