the shin megami tensei series are the best series ever ! by the first SMT games till the persona games . =) i hope they make some SMT games for the 360 and the ps3 but with the same awesome style of gameplay , visuals , music and Story . HAIL THE SMT SERIES !!! =D

I have played I, II, Nocturne, and Imagine.

I know that Nocturne is the third game in the actual SMT series...But I don't know what timespan it is in.

@blueelfstar1 1 and 2 are canon after 2 the world was reset in nocturne the world was reset again which was shown in Strange Journey where the neutral ending was canon.

You know, I think these games seriously deserve American ports. Sure, there's translation patches and ROMs, but it gets rather annoying when you can't find a good dump.

@ranchdressing There might be a remake for the 3DS forthcoming. Atlus announced three SMT games with no more details: "Shin Megami Tensei," "Shin Megami Tensei: Persona," and "Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor." I would enjoy this news if not for the fact that the music will probably be tampered with. Dammit I don't care how cruddy it would sound on a current gen handheld.

Nocturne came out after the whole "hurr satanism" phase died down, remember all the news reports and shit about how Pokemon was corrupting youth with satanic themes? Now imagine if SMT II, where Yaweh himself is the final boss and you can have Lucifer and other assorted demonic entities fighting on your side, in an era where yellow and purple rats having a friendly battle is considered "Satanism", it would be a figurative bloodbath.
