Here she is: Mrs. Ballbreaker in her finest glory! You see the range she was known for back in the day. Personally, I think this was her finest tune. I truly believe that!
The crap they had to put up with during their Chrysalis years..and Blondie was on the same label and Blondie (as was Billy Idol) went through a lot of crap with that label also..Chrysalis had signed brilliant talent and used and abused them..would be great to invite the Chrysalis artists from the past to dinner and hear their horror stories
Please please children; get your asses busy and create that time machine; I wanna go back to 79 and hit the 80's running; you young rockers can join us and we'll have a smashing time; then you can become label execs and not let a plastic autotune trash hip hop piece of shit in the studio and let rock and talent live on. Sound like a deal? (I'll just be busy buying Microsoft stock). ;)
I just so much love this tune. Remember dancing to this tune at my senior year in high school's homecoming dance. I was so thrilled when I got to finally see Pat in concert in July 2001 that this was one of the first songs she sang for us -- and yes, I was back there in high school, 21 years earlier, dancing along with "We Live For Love".
pat is a jewess who didn't have rock hits in the late 80s and early 1990s and played around with blues and jazz which = career buster for rock women. she lacks the clout woman like ann wilson have because of this.
@The096757 thats a pretty silly and racist comment and i guess based on the total garbage you posted is why she is a multi-platinum and multi-gramny holder:) lolx100
@The096757 LOL! Pat is not a fucking Jewess. Pat is Irish/Dutch (mom's side) and Polish (dad); she's a Catholic. I too wish she didn't stray from her rock roots; In The Heat of the Night, Crimes of Passion, and Precious Time are my faves. I read her book; she wanted rock; she envisioned the guitars, etc; she wanted to rock out. She kept going on about how Neil wanted to experiment with this or that and do new things; as I was reading it was like she forgot what SHE envisioned; rock Pat my fave.
@ivegottaheadache "LOL! Pat is not a fucking Jewess!" What a relief! Now she won't have to go to the gas chamber. Never realized Nazi fucktards were into Pat Benatar.
Would be female rock singers and aspiring guitarists could learn a lot from studying this performance. It really is the very best. Look at how Pat rocks, gestures and moves and study how the guitarists attack the guitar. Also note how well crafted the solo is.
@norrisonthespot YOu have a knack for noticing the small things, a compliment! Pat's voice has always been extreme and neils guitar so tastefull! A subdued song that is one of my fav's!
wow what a amazing voice the original queen of rock i remember this era those where the best days for music and the world was such a nicer place easy to loose your self in the music beautiful song !
I saw this on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert back around 1980.
She also did "Rated X" and "I need a lover" that night. Not sure what else as I came home during the broadcast. Saw her this month with REO in KCMO...she can still rock it out. GREAT SHOW
The guitar Neil G. is playing on this is a B. C. Rich Eagle, which was popular in the late '70's/early '80's, as were the B. C. Rich Mockingbird and the 10-string Bich. (That's the correct spelling, Rich-Bich.)
that was 1980 for me;) yes she was the hottest unbounded girl for the time, and still is, cause no matter today how any girl will "try to do any", they won't be real (as heart speaking). They are only good enough to sell hamburgers on TV.
Pat wasn't any mc-any. She made rock from within her, for everyone.
@dls61964 As someone who was in their senior year of high school when Pat Benatar became popular back in last half of 1980, it was probably close tie between Pat & Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders. Although I have to go w/ Pat, & especially this song (which was her 2nd hit, although not as remembered as her 3rd, "Heartbreaker") & the fact I danced to it at my senior homecoming dance in 10/1980.
@TheWhatsinaname I also love that in July 2001 when I saw Pat in concert at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA she played this as the second tune in her set. And yes, I danced to it as I did back in 1980.
Once, back in the day, Pat Benatar was asked who she idolized in music. She said that if she could sing like any one person it would be....,Chrissie Hynde:)
@cindyinnew I don't remember that! That's ridiculous. Her role models were Robert Plant; she was into Led Zeppelin and the Beatles; she didn't get her inspriation for any women.
uh no, actually iit's not and stop acting like your are an expert..People like you make you tube a pain in the ass...she definitely said it -- I heard her say it in a television interview - I'm sure she was influenced by others but she defnitely has a real respect for Chrissie Hynde. Get over yourself.
@cindyinnew Yes she has a respect for Chrissie Hynde; I know that but 30 years of everything in print and the like she always has harped on about Robert Plant & John Lennon; she said she didn't have a female performer that she immulated as a rock role model; she spoke about Chrissie giving advice about having a baby and being in the rock world. This is really what you hate about YT? What about users like lemontarsier's who is posting about Pat being Jewish and Nazi's, lol!
@ivegottaheadache I never said she she considered Chrissie an influence - I said that she idolized her as a female vocalist....you need to chill the hell out.
There are quite a few latter-day female artists that could hold their own with Pat. But then again, they wouldn't be "holding their own" at all. Re-mix, over-dub, etc.

I saw her in Oakland in the early 80's and she brought her daughter on stage. She was a toddler about 2 years old and now she is a beautiful woman just like her mom. BENATAR ROCKS!!
Someone on another you tube channel was commenting about how women should not sing rock music. Pat Benatar is Rock and Roll. This is one of my favorites !
she is better with age as were are going to see her again in 10 days, she's way better in person than her recordings, and here recordings are great. Neil's Guitar is smokin the whole time

I heard Pat worked for a local bank while her first husband was stationed at Fort Jackson.
That was before my time and I never saw her when I was in Columbia, SC because she was already a star.
My loss.
She is a legend, with a beautiful voice.
This song is my favorite.
