These checkpoints are necessary to the safety and security of Israel. They prevent the freedom of movement of terrorists, hindering coordination, and also stop the transportation of guns and bombs making it harder for terrorists to attack. They are a nuisance to the palestinians but necessary.

No where does it present how these checkpoints came about (which had more to do with the movement of militants/terrorists and weapons between places in the WB), that most of these 500 checkpoints aren't manned but rather are concrete blocks on the road to slow traffic, and presents that the brunt of these Arabs have been around for ages whilst the brunt are also only 2nd generation immigrants

Excellent job of capturing the flavor of what happens at checkpoints. I spent time with the machon watch and saw how bureaucracy wears down both IDF soldiers and Palestinian civilians. THe IDF must stop those who want to injure Israeli civilians but it needs to be done humanely and with as little interference in the lives of Palestinian civilians as possible. The only answer I see is to remove settlements to create a contiguous Palestinian territory so fewer checkpoints are needed.
