The first time I heard of Eloy I was 14yrs digging through the discount record bin and found Ocean...I got it on a whim just because it seemed so weird, and I was sure no one else around had it. I brought it home and put it on the player, and my cousin said "what type of black man listens to German rock?" ....and I replied "a progressive one"...lol. Good memories!

I was about 8-9 years of age, I was sitting on top of the wall on leg inside the house one leg out side, My brother's friend came by the house and said: hey Farhad do you know if Saeed bought that new Eloy Album, (I think it was either Inside or Floating) I said: Yes!! he said can you bring it to me? Me being stupid.. said yes!! and went inside got it and passed it to him!!

Later on my brother came home and found out ... I had to run for my life...

Rock was very big in 70's in Iran.

Especially Progressive Rock, I've lived out of Iran for so many years now, past few years I have been visiting Tehran, and I found out it's still very popular and there were 100's underground Rock bands that they are now given the permssion to perform.

There are few other german bands which you should look into, one is Novalis and other is Jane they are both 70's Bands.

Vocal in Novalis is in German.

and there is a Hungarian band Called Omega. and they were very good in 70's

herewith i strongly disagree. for example my english can be excellent, but when i´m not able to put it into rhymes, i´ll never be a poet.

the singing and guitars are really not that bad that they would considerably affect the music quality. further the voice of frank bornemann (and also his hearable german accent...) is a part of the music identity. if there would be no inspiration, no phantasy, no synthesis of the idea & feelings and performance, better voice or guitars would be useless.

Fans wouldn't have it any other way as this is what Eloy was(is) but then one has to be a fan to understand this... Floating is my favorite album, Very row, tight and powerful album. true 70's rock but so advance for the year. Loved it, brings memories back from my childhood, when my brother's band used to cover Eloy songs in German club Tehran1976. it was like a dream...
