@cottoncactus Thank you! I would like to note that I later converted this lute in to a theorbo, which I now use to play the same piece properly. I have a video where I play another piece with the modified instrument. Also, I think my other, more recent lutes are prettier :)
Thanks for the posting, really well played. Even more impressive as you make the instruments yourself! Have just obtained the music for this that seems close to what you are playing. The bass against the treble is wonderful. Thanks again.
Dude, I know you're going to be a good lutenist. However, for starters, you need to correct the positioning of your right hand (supinated position). Get yourself a quality lute instructor who can correct your problem.
Hey, think about it: It's a piece for the chitarrone, hence the hand position. I already have a very good book, and I know the correct playing position.
You're totally wrong about the hand position. While thumb under was correct for the ren. lute, it's not nearly as likely for the archlute (too many strings). In any case, take a look at videos on youtube of Nigel North playing Dowland. Thumb out throughout, and he's excellent. Thumb under is becoming a bogeyman.
I had bewen playing the classical guitar for three years before the lute, and this song was the first one I played on the lute. It probably took me a month to get it smooth, though this was filmed a year or so after I started playing.
:-) I love this piece and you play it just fine

Haunting music. Could play it endlessly I guess.
Do you know by chance where to find the music?

This is great. I think I might try and arrange this for the banjo.

Sounds like a great idea! You can't go wrong with the banjo.

Where's you get the score? Are you working from the facsimile? I'm looking in vain for published editions of Piccinini....

Great job. Tough on a theorbo, harder on a lute!

Not a problem. I'm hoping to gain a similar degree of proficiency on the lute someday. How long did it take you?
