It ain't that damn serious! I've been in pest control for 19 years. If you act like a bitch on the job you will scare the customers and lose major business!! It must be the whole REALITY TV effect that you must be trying to go for, a complete FAIL on your part!!
I actually got a plan for a new trap I plan on trying out its more humane and will only trap the rat for removal and later disposal! I'd say more about it but I don't want the idea being taken! the biggest thing about catching rats is to stay one step ahead of them!
why the screaming? Dude I took out a rat this morning on a glue trap and I killed one a month ago with a hammer when it was trying to escape capture! and these are Norway rats! one I took this morning was about 8 inches tip of head to tip of tail and one i took a month ago was about 10 inches tip to tip. Your less likely to catch the diseases if you keep clean anyways! the gloves are a good idea but the bb gun kinda farce your not shooting them in the country! & you didn't hear me scream!

Those mothersuckers would eat the peanut butter from the mouse trap without making it snap. I'd wake up to see mouse saliva left on the trap. Well I outsmarted them. I put covered a piece of macaroni with peanut butter, thinking it would try to take it back to the nest. Whamo! I got that sucker and his whole family!
Uh..Get a "contained"quick kill trap. Call the exterminator and get you money back!!!! Rats and mice carry FATAL diseases, some come from their urine dragged over ALL surfaces everywhere they walk, and in fur. fleas that live on mice carry bubonic plague (the black plague that killed 1/3 of Europe's population) and mice droppings carry the Hanta Virus (there is no known cure..this means you just DIE from INHALING THE DUST AND TOUCH). They also start fires chewing wiring!!
I have some of those bastards in my attic. Hearing something scurry around not only 30mins ago. It kills me that i have to go into the attic. I hate the little bastards.
