  • Dear Dallas Stars. We will see YOU this spring time.

  • 5:04 might of been one of the greatest calls in Bob Cole's career

  • Tommy salo was a piece of shit goalie.

  • Well, as a Stars fan I quite enjoy the choice for number one. But I get y'all's point. Let's just hope for some more great series over the next decade, ok?

  • It wasn't the playoffs if the Stars and Oilers didn't play each other in the first round. I miss those days.

  • jeeez did Joseph ever stand on his head in that game in 97.

  • Stars fans and oilers fans are just going to have to agree to disagree on what should be #1.

  • the difference between 1997 and 1999 was curtis joseph

  • @hbk9911 What about 1998 when Joseph was with the Oilers? The Stars beat them in five games.

  • Bob Cole's call at the 2:00 mark is so typical - he's the voice of hockey for me - what a legend.

And Joseph stood on his head in what was an unbelievable series. I can still remember the intensity 13 years later and I'm not even an Oil fan.

  • LOL at this fuckup. How can #2 not be #1??

Bob Cole was in his element and Curtis Joseph, what can you say, it was simply a stunning performance especially in Game 7, 1997.

  • How the hell are the two games that are #2 and #3 ranked lower than a game from a horribly officiated series (I'm not an OIlers or a Stars fan so it is not a bias opinion). #1 should have been #3 or elsewhere on the countdown.

  • Yup. Game 7 in '97 clearly should have been number one. The game they did choose for number one was part of a 4-game sweep for the Stars. That '97 series was some of the best hockey I've ever seen. Nonsense that game 7 from that series is not number 1. Makes no sense...

  • @nbtube no doubt. I still remember watching that game when I was 9 years. I can still picture my dad jumping out of his seat and cheering when marchant scored that OT goal.

  • @Ironmaiden1776 i was living on the east coast back then, went to bed thinking it was over.First thing i hear when the clock radio came on, " and in sports , oilers win in overtime details @ 8. Couldn't beleive i missed the best oiler game ever

  • LOL how in the hell is the 1997 game 7 not number 1?

  • THis was when Bob Cole was the greatest

  • @vega21 I agree.

Now He's just a senile retard that should be removed from HNIC

  • @TayR0C At 5:05 Coles "They have tied the game" gave me goosebumps

  • Whow, you should really be more serious with your teams.. Thats awfull, It's Minnesota North Stars you tard..

  • number 2 should have been number 1.

  • ^^^^

  • Man I was in jr high in 1997 and I will NEVER forget what happened during that series. What a fierce rivalry, made for some of the best playoff hockey I have ever seen!

  • Bob Cole is legend

  • Gotta love Bob Cole's call of the goal at 5:02. Boy does he sound pumped!

  • Cujo is a loser for leaving Edm. They tried to keep hime but he took the xtra money

  • 1999 definitely mad up for 97, but im still mad at moog for giving up 3 goal lead. i still love my stars, especially the late 90s teams

  • Seems like these players had so much more passion and heart. They were excited to win, and showed raw emotion. Something I think is missing from today's games.

  • yeah the players sure do hate winning these days. what are you talking about?

  • lol

  • Curtis Joseph was such a great team.

  • LOL yeah really....he carried every team he ever played for with maybe the exception of Detroit I guess!

  • wow oilers where such a great team....

  • I love the games we play with the oilers playoffs or during the season. when these teams play throw away the standings and record books with these teams... And i will love too see the Stars and Oilers in the playoffs again

  • how in the world do they show the '97 game 7 and not show Joseph's unbelievable stop??? O_o

  • I would like to see another Edmonton, Dallas playoff series this year. The thing I dont want to see in this years playoffs is edmonton vs Anaheim. Screw the ducks. Screw Pronger. I hope he sucks this year along with giguere.

  • i would like to see you stop sucking dicks but that wont happen either

  • How many overtime games were there in that 97series? If it's less than 5, then I'm suprised it didn't break the all time record for most in a single series. But that series was awsome, it was like all or nothing for both teams!

  • Why is it that the Edmonton Oilers have been in some of the best highlights in recent memory? I think every one remembers the missed empty netter by one Patrick Stefan that result in a last tying goal by of course the edmonton oilers. Their 2006 stanley cup run is filled with a bunch of great highlights. Even though I am a Canadiens fan first and have been since I was four, The oilers will always have a special place in my heart. The flames are going to lose to Edmonton in the playoffs. Watch

  • There were 3 actually. And Edmonton won them all. Only one series ever had five- the 1951 cup finals (and it was a 5 game series!). The Oilers most OTs in one series was 1991 when they had a 6 game victory over the Kings. There were 4 in that one and Edmonton won three of them.

  • 1 word Cujo!

  • the rilvary was good when TOMMY SALO became goli #1 for the oils

  • This series was one of my favorites back in the 90's, along with the 94 final, 93 final and the Pens/Islanders 93 Patrick division final.

  • marchant....SCORES!!!!

One of the franchises most memorable goals.

  • this is a wierd and legendary rivalry.

I hate the stars and love the oilers

  • dude, do a little reading, the Minnesota north stars renamed to the minnesota stars, and then moved to dallas a year later.

I found this odd; top 5 playoff games between the two probably - but there are 2 very memorable games from 06-07 between the two

  • Ya... so you got one thing right. Big deal. Dallas.... Minnesota.... who cares Obviously they werent playing in Minnesota during the 5 year playoff rivalry from 1997-2002

  • Best rivalry of all time

  • Great memories, great rivalry!

Here's looking forward to the future.

    GO OIL

  • great post
