Well, as a Stars fan I quite enjoy the choice for number one. But I get y'all's point. Let's just hope for some more great series over the next decade, ok?
How the hell are the two games that are #2 and #3 ranked lower than a game from a horribly officiated series (I'm not an OIlers or a Stars fan so it is not a bias opinion). #1 should have been #3 or elsewhere on the countdown.
Yup. Game 7 in '97 clearly should have been number one. The game they did choose for number one was part of a 4-game sweep for the Stars. That '97 series was some of the best hockey I've ever seen. Nonsense that game 7 from that series is not number 1. Makes no sense...
@nbtube no doubt. I still remember watching that game when I was 9 years. I can still picture my dad jumping out of his seat and cheering when marchant scored that OT goal.
@Ironmaiden1776 i was living on the east coast back then, went to bed thinking it was over.First thing i hear when the clock radio came on, " and in sports , oilers win in overtime details @ 8. Couldn't beleive i missed the best oiler game ever
Man I was in jr high in 1997 and I will NEVER forget what happened during that series. What a fierce rivalry, made for some of the best playoff hockey I have ever seen!
Seems like these players had so much more passion and heart. They were excited to win, and showed raw emotion. Something I think is missing from today's games.
I love the games we play with the oilers playoffs or during the season. when these teams play throw away the standings and record books with these teams... And i will love too see the Stars and Oilers in the playoffs again
I would like to see another Edmonton, Dallas playoff series this year. The thing I dont want to see in this years playoffs is edmonton vs Anaheim. Screw the ducks. Screw Pronger. I hope he sucks this year along with giguere.
How many overtime games were there in that 97series? If it's less than 5, then I'm suprised it didn't break the all time record for most in a single series. But that series was awsome, it was like all or nothing for both teams!
Why is it that the Edmonton Oilers have been in some of the best highlights in recent memory? I think every one remembers the missed empty netter by one Patrick Stefan that result in a last tying goal by of course the edmonton oilers. Their 2006 stanley cup run is filled with a bunch of great highlights. Even though I am a Canadiens fan first and have been since I was four, The oilers will always have a special place in my heart. The flames are going to lose to Edmonton in the playoffs. Watch
There were 3 actually. And Edmonton won them all. Only one series ever had five- the 1951 cup finals (and it was a 5 game series!). The Oilers most OTs in one series was 1991 when they had a 6 game victory over the Kings. There were 4 in that one and Edmonton won three of them.
Ya... so you got one thing right. Big deal. Dallas.... Minnesota.... who cares Obviously they werent playing in Minnesota during the 5 year playoff rivalry from 1997-2002
Dear Dallas Stars. We will see YOU this spring time.

Stars fans and oilers fans are just going to have to agree to disagree on what should be #1.

Bob Cole's call at the 2:00 mark is so typical - he's the voice of hockey for me - what a legend.
And Joseph stood on his head in what was an unbelievable series. I can still remember the intensity 13 years later and I'm not even an Oil fan.

LOL at this fuckup. How can #2 not be #1??
Bob Cole was in his element and Curtis Joseph, what can you say, it was simply a stunning performance especially in Game 7, 1997.

dude, do a little reading, the Minnesota north stars renamed to the minnesota stars, and then moved to dallas a year later.
I found this odd; top 5 playoff games between the two probably - but there are 2 very memorable games from 06-07 between the two
