@rickyd454 Mir is good at cranking a sub when he has it, but his jiu-jitsu isn't all that great. He doesn't have great takedowns or positioning. He is like Vitor Belfort except with subs instead of punches. He can blitz you in the first round.

i agree they both have holes in thier game but i think lesnars holes in his striking is far more important in this fight, why you ask? because at the start of every round the fight starts standing which means lesnar has to take that shit down right away and he has to do it without getting hit by overeem, this fight is a huge questionmark but i have lesnar as the underdog and dont see him pulling it off, hope he can make an upset though.

@MJHOOKEDONMMA Overeem hasn't fought a wrestler of Lesnar's Caliber either so that might posse some problems. However, you make a strong point fight starts standing and that is an automatic issue 4 Brock, but other than Werdrum Overeem hasn't beaten the most top rated opponents. Hopefully Lesnar does take out Overeem and crushes him in the first few rounds. Then Lesnar takes on JDS, not sure if he will go through JDS so quickly.

@Feralig Well, don't be mistaken, this is no wrestling match. You are aloud to kick, knee, punch an elbow your way to victory. Also Overeem is great an different range's an distances to keep Lesnar off balanced. Overeem is also training with Randy Couture, who brock couldn't even take down, so im sure Overeem will learn a few things there. Obviously Lesnar cannot react when getting punched, because he is not a natural fighter, just a wrester. Overeem only needs to land 1 strike.

lesnar hasn't been knocked because he turtles up and waits for the ref to stop it every time...he doesn't fight once he gets hit...you guys seem to forget lesnar was gassed when he fought cain after those two takedowns he did....overeem will out muscle lesnar and keep it standing......sorry but you guys seem to like lesnar too much to admit he will get defeated

But in his defence he was battling his illness while pushing through training. Brock took a big shot he couldn't recover from, and you're right his striking defence isn't the best when he does get rocked. However, Brock has still been fighting the TOP level heavyweights in the world since he started in MMA and has been destroying most of them

@HBKCommish I like Overeem, but since moving to heavyweight he hasn't faced anyone relevant. And also hasn't really looked that well in any of them. He always either gasses (And Brock doesn't usually gas until mid 3rd or 4th round) or gets into a head hunting mode where he is only looking for counter hook knockouts. Werdum, Rogers, Hunt, Duffy? Like seriously if Overeem was facing and beating top level competition over the last 2 years I might give him a bit more credit.

I like Brock, but Reem probably wins this...People say dumbass shit like "this is a classic Striker vs Grappler fight" but in reality it's a Grappler vs Better Grappler/ Better Striker fight. Reem has actually more submission wins than KOs in MMA PLUS he's a K1 Elite striker, Brock is just a strong Wrestler...
Brock's only chance is if Reem gets tired, other than that Reem takes this via submission or TKO.

Overeem actually competed at Abu Dhabi going against the absolute best in the world in Submission Wrestling and never lost, Brock is a Division 1 Wrestler but that was like 11 years ago LOL...There is no way in hell Brock is a better grappler than Reem. And Brock has wrestled since he was five, he has had hundreds possibly thousands of wrestling matches throughout his life, and when you have a wrestling pedigree like that the transition to submission grappling is fairly easy. And you obviously underestimate how hard it is to win a Division 1 national title. It seems like it is you who has no idea what he is talking about.

I never said he was a world class grappler, I said that Lesnar's grappling skills are superior to Overeem's. You keep talking about Reem's submission wins and grappling credentials but you have to take into account that besides Vitor he hasn't submitted anyone with legit grappling skills.

If someone closer to Mir's size and strength used the same amount of technique against Mir they would not dominate like that. Lesnar's primary weapon is size and athleticism not grappling skill.
