  • Now I have something awesome to blast on the 4th of july!

  • Хуйня ваша Америка,

    И вы все подпердыши

    Россия - Звучит гордо

    Россию- никогда не сокрушить

    Россия- вперед!!!

  • NICE !

  • "Autumn To Spring" (Charisma) shares 6 songs in common with "Emerlist Davjack" (Columbia). "Autumn To Spring" contains 3 additional songs, including 'America'; "Emerlist" only a couple: 'Rondo' & 'War & Peace.' I haven't thought about this or listened to this music in decades. It's so pleasant to be reacquainted with these gems, thanks to you.

  • @bogeybast Actually, listening closely to the intro I'm pretty sure this is the version off of "Ars Longa Vita Brevis", not "Autumn to Spring".

  • Keith Emerson...Born poor...Died rich.......always great!!!!!!

  • @frankde69 Keith Emerson is not dead...

  • The 4 people who did not like this are clearly gay.

  • Only one word to describe it. quality!

  • It's ironic that you used the American flag for the video, because The Nice burned an American flag during the performance of this.

  • Art!

  • One of the best songs of the 60s!!!

  • Too much of David O'List's never quite realised guitar hammering, a very competent guitarist would have been a good compliment to Emerson.

  • @powellallan emerson wanted to get together with hendrix but he either died or it was decieded that it would be too out of control

  • West Side Story :P

  • I remember nicking the the original banned poster of this of their heads superimposed on the USA's presidents heads on Mt Rushmore saying something like 'It took America 240 odd years It took the nice 6.25 seconds'. I twas a shop near Cottesmore and given to Chis (corporal) Ray. I knew then I'd regret it.

  • It's good to hear the original and not the later re-mixed version where Emerson's almost petulant piano pounding drowns out Davy O'List's guitar intro.

  • Keith Emerson, the Hendrix of the keys!

  • You Are Here! SO You must have great musical taste So if if You like this awesome tune then after hearing this one tune into some ELP early emerson lale and palmer

  • This song is awesome. I didn't apreciate the rest of their songs and haven't heard ELP, but this song is just brilliant.

  • 5:43 New World Symphony! cool!

  • This would make a great SEGUE with "Song For America" by Kansas. Freeform FM deejays might be interested in these creative "segues".

  • In addition, anyone who has U.S. pressings of the 45 will notice that the songwriting credit of the "2nd Amendment" part of this number was listed as "-E. Davjack-." It was S.O.P. of Columbia Records for years to have a first initial followed by a surname, regardless of whether the name was real or not (in this case, "Emerlist Davjack" was a pseudonym used for songwriting and producing credits for The Nice in those days, before guitarist Davy O'List left the group after this was recorded).

  • It was the rendition with that vocal passage at the end, which was released on 45 in the U.S. on Immediate ZS7 5008. (The stereo version, it seems, does not have this passage, but just an instrumental void.)

  • @wmbrown6 I have the stereo version, and yeah, it just completely skips over the vocal part and goes straight to the drum fill at the end

  • Lady Liberty out wiv the whip!! Very nice!!!!

  • rock on i love it!

  • "America's pregnant ,

    with promise and anticipation,

    but murdered,

    by the hand ,

    of the ,.

    inevitable"

Who was that little voice ? 6:03

  • hi the voice is rumoured to be that of pp arnolds daughter. The nice were her original backing group.

    Hope that answers your question!

  • Thanks Cosmic

According to the Wikipedia,In Keith Emerson's biography it is said ,it was her son kevin, wich can't be,she had two children,Kevin was born after 1970.

So it was indeed her daughter Debbie,

who was tragically killed in a car accident,

    somewhere about '74 ,

by the hand of the inevitable.▬

  • @PAULLONDEN

America's pregnant with promise and anticipation...Fuckin' murdered by the hand of the enivitible!

  • Was Keith Emerson a member of The Nice?

  • _YES HE WAS AROUND 67-69

  • This is far better than the orchestral version.

  • Nice

  • Considering that Bernstein was the man for whom the phrase 'radical chic' was invented, it was a bit hypocritical to object when some-one used his music as a anti-American protest. The lyrics - admittedly by Sondheim -are a bit cheekily subversive themselves.

  • Nice thoughts of EmerList DavJack

    [¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬=]

  • i just love this version.

  • Leonard Bernstein may have hated this version but this takes the music to a different dimension so just enjoy it - ars longa - vita brevis

  • Well, it was musical a statement, and still is. Jethro Tull played this version live when I saw then last year.

  • That is so cool! I love Jethro Tull and to hear them play this fantastic song would be excellent!!!!!! I am so jealous!

  • Yeah, it was just luck that I got to see them play this. Their version of this is on hear too if you look it up. Its in my favorites somewhere if you care to look!

  • ars longa - vita brevis And you all know what that means.

  • Keep up the support for stuff you hear on Youtube and wont hear anywhere else - think twice before supporting corporates of censorship

  • @hambuns Bernstein could be a difficult shithead sometimes after on the waterfront which was great he never did another movie .

  • Outstanding musical performance of a classic...brilliant

  • @punkasspete Yeaaah boi!
