for better results you must move the metal plate or remove it.......because the playing surface is too hard .....put the metal plate betwen the 2 pieces of foam
you need some soft foam under ur mesh heads coz they still sound loud as hell.I put mesh heads on my dm5 and cut some soft foam to fit under.they now feel real and make almost no noise
Hey when you describe your conversion in the text, was that all you did or did you have to do all that re-soldering thing? Also, is re-soldering necessary with the 2011 version?
good work mate, you should do some sort of tutorial video or something, cos i still dont really get how to do it from the description, but ive bin looking to convert mine for a while...
any ideas how i could get it dual trigger?
like, the snare is dual trigger, but its not very good, so would it be worth just buying a roland pdx 8 or something?
i would like a cymbal with choke abilities as well, is there any way to do that? (i use surge cymbals, btw)
@tHickman95 you dont even need to mess around and do the complicated stuff this guy is saying.I have a DM5 kit and all i did was took the old head off,put some soft blue foam i bought (cut to size) on top of the pad the way it was, then put a mesh head on.it now sounds really quiet and feels like a real drum.
@drumdemon3 where did you buy the foam,,im considering getting the dm8 and putting the foam like you did,, how much quiter did it get in percentage,,like 50%
hello! i also have am alesis dm 10 studio kit.if you want to solve the problem with your kick ,try this;carefully remove the piezo from the metal plate and leave the piezo on plastic disc.after doing this ,rearangge the foams inside like this;on the bottom you put first the black foam[the one with hole],than the plastic disc with piezo, the white foam, the standard mouse pad[5-6mm]and the mylar head.the resault is spectacular....be sure the mylar head or mesh head is tight enough.i hope it helps!
Are the heads like the heads of a real drum kit, remo instripe for example? Evans? Etc

Thanks for the upload. I'm shopping for an electronic set for an apartment and it's tough to find videos of the head volume. Thanks!

Sounds like that room could use some padding as well.
Having that kit right up against that wall is going to make it sound like a construction crew outside if you don't pad it up.
