Hello Folks. Did some one make an aural transcription of this tune on sheet music pliz ? with all solos + charts/tabs ? Thanx by advance. Claude - Belgium - other email : claude.de.belgique@gmail.com - phone 00 32 470 578 060 - GMT+1
Thank you MookRyan for this upload. Besides loving everything going on in this recording I'm delighted to hear it beginning to end as the melodic implications this piece has had on American (and World) music have created so much of what I have grown to love and perhaps taken for granted prior to understanding how influential Bix and Tram were. The guitar was a surprising delight. Excellent.
great choice mookryan, i never thought of that, also if the cat had a litter, you could have names for them all, what a great concept, they would truly be "swingin' cats".
@sailin1934 Who cares what you'd name your dog or cat or yourself - what's that got to do with the greaest jazz cornetisist (sp?) of the Roaring Twenties?
My Grandad and Grandma (Owen & Iris Bryce) loved Bix's music so much they named the boat they lived on for 10 years after him. As a child I had many a happy holiday on the narrowboat 'Bix'
Very good video, one of the best I have found on Leon Bismarck "Bix" Beiderbecke. On the commentary by Lion, would it be too wrong to assume that what Bix, Tram & Lang were making there was similar to what J. S. Bach makes in his aria "Erbarme dich, mein Gott", from The Passion according to St. Matthew's, where the three instruments: Harpsichord, violin and human voice, each has a melody in its own, and at the same time, each sound together in harmony?
Louis Armstrong, just prior to his death, stated that 'soon I'll be playing with Bix. My uncle played with Bix and in the late 50's introduced me to his music and it was the beginning of a life long love affair.
A wonderful presentation that does more than fair justice to Bix and co with this most poignant and difinitive of their collaborations. For some reason I kind of feel emotional when I hear this recording, and with your slide show, a tear or two welled up in my eyes!
Lisa ---This is super---Your photos are so evocative of Bix and his friends --that it-really moved me --As a Bix maniac for over 40 years ---i must say that you brought something new and special to Singing the Blues --ivydivypres how about his autumnally sad and beautiful Rhythm King --as a subject for your work ?
Lisa, you've nailed it again! Kudos for an excellent, and I mean excellent, video. Love it when there are tributes to Bix like this. Keep up the great work!!!!

I once had a great cat named Bix ... if I ever end up with 2 cats who happen to be brothers they'll definitely be named Bix and Tram

This tune, played by Kenny Baker and friends was used as the signature for The Beiderbecke Affair, starring James Bolam and the lovely Barbara Flynn.

It's brilliant.
