I appreciate this even more because I am a goaltender myself. This was save of the year for me. No question. Better even then Rask's 3rd period diving blocker save & Miller's overtime trapper block in the playoffs. But because there were technical issues with the broadcast, it wasn't a big game, and because Raycroft is undervalued due to his career-killing time in Toronto, it flew in under the radar. I don't expect this to make any of the top 10 lists.

@Daarko15 Actually he did make some nice saves in a Leaf uniform, but he let in way too many soft goals costing the Buds games. That's why it's good he's gone. He must have cost the Leafs at leat 10 games during his first season in T.O.; the first of a string of seasons the Leafs failed to make the playoffs. Therefore, the blame can squarely be put on his shoulders.

@Smith35KC An open ice hit is equivalent to a huge hit in football, trust me. You have to account for the speed since they are on skates. The boards absorb a lot on a hit, open ice... Not so much. :P

I happen to be a die hard Packers fan, and I'm Canadian, and I personally believe Rugby may be more vicious, but the athletic level in the NFL is unparalleled. Unleash Patrick Willis or Ray Lewis on someone in a Rugby game, and it might be the last time they walk.

I do agree, a big open ice hit is at the same level of a hit in the NFL, but the thing is not ever single touch of the puck is there a hit as to the NFL everytime somebody touches the ball they are either crushed or crushing somebody, almost every play 18 people are hitting each other, so that is why i believe that football is the #1 contact sport in the world, but this is just my opinion and i'm not saying its what has to be! For instance, Ray Lewis (MLB) delivers about 1800lbs of force in a hit, but the pads distribute across the body, so instead of just your chest taking 1800lbs of force, its spread out.

All I'm trying to say is, someone like Ray Lewis would literally kill a person if their was no padding involved hahaha.

He could have reached it, but if you look closely, when he starts sliding to his left, his teammate hits his right leg with his skate, causing him to loose balance and fall backwards.
