  • Super dooper! One of my favourite horses to ride was an Arab/Saddlebred. So nice to ride - smooth and smart.

  • WOW. Usually when I see saddlebred horses in saddle seat, I see heavy hands, tense riders, and bracing horses...not to mention all the horrible things like soring. You have shattered that stereotype for me. You have such light hands and seat, and the horse seems to really enjoy what he is doing!

  • @mhunterjumper true, but those people dont care about anything but winning ,my walkers naturally step high, and are not sored

  • Horse : Im a pretty ponie, i am a pretty ponie ,IM A PRETTY POINE!!!

  • Id Die to ride a horse like that (:

  • You people are something else!!! Who taught you all what a trot was.

If the rider was not posting, the horse was not in a trot!!! That's all it is to it. This is known as a slow gait. Check your slow computer to catch up to what the horse is doing. The strecthies and chains are not tight at all. They just help with the four beat foot fall. Next you all will say that saddles are abusive instruments. Please stick to chia pets. This horse and rider are a nice team!!!

  • @jabraxxus

Actually who taught you what a trot is? For the record a trot is a diagonal 2 beat gait. Lateral legs move in unison and there may or may not be a moment of suspension between strides. a rider rising or sitting the trot does not change the what the gait is. If the horse's diagonal legs are not moving in unison (striking the ground at the same time) the horse is not trotting. There are other natural diagonal gaits... Google it.

  • @gmwwc It would be nice if you would have paid close attention to exactly what I said. I did mention a four beat. Besides, in my original post, I was talking to those individuals that complain about Saddlebred training. I never said that a post or a rider rising or sitting changed the gait. I was only stating the obvious. If you know Saddlebred, you are not going to sit comfortably during a trot without posting. You call it what you want, we are saying the same thing silly!!!!

  • @gmwwc Oh you must be confusing Saddlebred and Walkers. They have very different racks. But, I am sure you already know that, huh? I am done with this silly game of yours lady.

  • please dont say how beautiful this is, i know these people that trained those horses, and i know what they had gone through! shackling and painting the pasterns to cause pain and a higher gait, it is abuse and if they were here where i live they would be in jail! and never allowed to own any animal again!!

  • Can you not see he's "off" at the trot? as in, either out of balance or lame?

  • Can you not see he's "off" at the trot?

  • he's seems to be pretty natural. I have a few horses that will carry themselves in this "fashion" with out shoe's, training, weights, rider ect....Let another horse come down the road and half the herd "flashes up" Very nice horse

  • Look at how comfortable the rider is! These horses are amazing---thank you for posting this. Johnny is just gorgeous.

  • so unnatural...

  • he is way out of his bridle. CURB REIGN.

  • U really havent seen a ROCKY MOUNTAIN HORSE have u they gait as high, no jumping and not as high strung doesnt look like fun riding him RMH ride like cars

  • it must take skill to ride one of them, you have to hold your hands to high, mine would be all over the place!, though your probably use to it :)

  • whoa... thats cool, what gait is that?

  • very nice looking horse!!! very nice rack to!!!

  • He is a beautiful boy. I have a friend who works with em and i must say, I love their canter they have. So comfy ^_^ Is that offer to ride him open to anyone haha? Just kidding but he is beautiful

  • I loved riding gaited horses and miss them. Great video :)

  • I like the music. What is the name?

  • Comment removed

  • @NIEN1994 That's the theme from the short-lived NBC reality show "The Contender", composed by none other than famous film composer Hans Zimmer, and yeah, it's an awesome piece of music. :)

  • WOAH! i love that horse

  • why is it on all these Saddlebred stallions/mare videos, there are fat people who cant ride on them. YOU WILL HURT YOUR STALLION/MARE. GET OFF THE POOR BUGGER!!

  • Clearly, this man isn't fat, so perhaps you should comment otherwise. But yes, it disturbs me a little when morbidly obese people look like they are breaking the back of a horse too small/young/light to carry them. Get a draft! :)

  • No, i wasnt saying he was fat, i was just saying, those ponies arnt meant to be ridden, they can be but there more of a showing in hand type pony, and when someone that cant ride it, and is pulling it in the mouth, its kinda heatrenchingly painful to watch!

  • @HorseLover436 They are meant to be ridden. Do some research.

  • @HorseLover436 this man is actually quite skinneyyy

  • @HorseLover436 are you that stupid!!!!! Saddlebreds are ig Sturdy horses!!!!! I have 2 I weight 80 pound and that guy in the video lookde less then 100 pounds!!! you are just a Ignorant Troll!!! don't know what troll is?? it is a Internet hater who has no life!! so get one and stfu!!

  • That's a stunning boy right there. Great action. :)

  • Beautiful horse, wonderful training.

  • wow! thats a bad boy

  • Until you have road a horse like this,You have no idea how great it is,this is a great horse & rider. thank you

  • aww thanks, what a generous thing to say! he is a beauty!!i love saddlebreds in general but this one is a real gem ;p have a good day!!

  • i was saying that Ky Fats is trash not anyon elese, sorry.i just think its rude to hear someone say that its looks like a half trained monkey riding him.thats an awful thing to say.i wish i coul dpunch that persons lights out >: $

  • stunning,i wish i could ride him for 5 mins !! ;p

  • @velvetvicenza come to Ky I will let you ride him... he is a baby... I can ride him bareback

  • @Meaghancbs I let u know when I am in KY then.

  • cute but he needs to raise up a little bit

  • the rack is a trot where only one foot at a time touches the ground and it is very smooth

  • Need to get him collected. His head is all over the place.

  • actually no he wasn't. his head was tucked in the whole time, plus stallions are harder to ride.

  • youre trash

  • @KyFats really are you that ignorant?????????????

  • @KyFats your a racist basturd

  • beautiful sb, I took riding lessons for a while on saddlebreds, smooth. my first horse dusty was a saddlebred, or at least he looked and rode like one. smooooth.

    RRRRR

  • what is the difference between a rack and the slow gait? and what does it feel like? god i want a saddlebred so bad.

  • a rack is faster than a slow gait.. its kinda bumpyish.. idk its hard to explain.. but yeah slow gait and rack are basically the same thing just one is slower.

  • The rack is just a faster pace of the slow gait both are very smooth at first the rack feels bumpy but once the horse gets going its gets smoother.

  • Walk, Trot, Canter, Slow-gait and Rack, I think?

  • can they canter?

    what are the gates

  • American Saddlebred horses are very intelligent and that combined with unparalleled beauty makes them the perfect show horse. This breed was favored by Generals - both Lee and Grant had their favorite Saddlebred. These horses have the physical conformation that enable thems to perform 5 different gaits one of which is the rack. No other horse can perform this gait. It's extremely comfortable for the rider. To sum it up, Saddlebred's do everything any horse does, they just do it better!.

  • @highhorse313 And aren't they lovely when they do rack? Except I have to correct you when you say the Saddlebred is the only breed of horse who knows how to rack-- there is an entire breed called the Racking Horse, actually, who can also rack (naturally) . Missouri Foxtrotters and Tennessee Walkers have also been known to rack. :)

  • @maximumsabino - Thanks mazimumsabino for the correction, I should have said the Saddlebred is the only horse that does 5 gaits.

  • he's beautiful!!! looks like he gives u a fun and fast ride!!!

  • Great music for this; I believe it is the musical theme for Iron Chef, but it is GREAT with saddlebreds.

  • wow. hes amazing! i wish i could breed my mare to him!

  • AWESOME- both the horse and the music! BTW, what is the title of the music?

  • what';s the song??

    LOVE that horse

  • yummy. i want.

  • WOW! that horse is amazing! in all my years of saddleseat riding and working with saddlebreds there are very few that look like that!

  • i wanna try saddle seat really bad. im all english pleasure with my QH. i wish i knew of a barn near me.

you have a GORGEOUS horse there. he has very nice movement and just glides along the ground. you are very lucky to own him

  • you should try!! You don't need a saddlebred to ride saddleseat.. Just get a saddleseat saddle and ride your QH in it... Unless you want to ride a saddlebred like the one above..

  • i would love to but i know of NO saddle seat people to borrow a saddleseat saddke to borrow. plus my mare is way wider than these guys lol.

if i ever find one i think i might just take a few lessons for the experience =]

  • yeah, its hard bc nobody really rides them.. Hahahah actually theses horses are very very crazy(= no lie:P

  • Crazy? Not quite. In fact, I've ridden Saddlebreds who are more quiet than some of the Quarter Horses I've seen. Honestly, it depends on the horse. But, as an owner of an American Saddlebred, I find it rather...insulting to hear them called 'very very crazy'. Because, in reality, they're amazing horses and no more crazy than your average horse.

  • yeah, deffently not crazy!! Arabs are crazy (no offense)but they are more crazy then saddlebreds(=

  • I would not say that. I have a half arab X saddle bred (AKA National Show Horse) and the arab in him makes him no more crazy then any other horse. I can trail ride him alone and he is very obedient. Arabs are not crazy..just sensitive.

  • I mean they are jumpy, and temperamental sometimes.. and i wasn't talking about all arabs bc we have one that is very laid back and is bomb proof. just in general most are considered a high energy horse.

  • @7flyinghecks true i hate it when people judge arabs (or any breed) without even riding them!

  • No, not crazy. Just athletic!

  • Are you kiding? My SB was kicked in the gut...by a crazy Arabian...and what did he do, he stood there and didn't even move. Our off all the horses I have ridedn the SB is the calmest and most sensibel...and cares about their rider.

  • Amen. Although I do love arabs too:)

  • @DarkAngelAzreil Sorry but I find it funny to hear someone say they are the calmest breed. I've met some calm ones but they are not just calm by nature haha

  • i have had two saddlebreds in the past. this is unnatural. they do have a slightly hight step to them, but this is wayyy un natural. my horses are dressage horses. they are not gated, and show natural steps

  • Low movement is correct for dressage; high movement is correct for saddleseat. Nothing unnatural about it - just teaching the horse that we would like him to pick his feet up and just the same as they learn to do an extended trot they are happy to oblige once they know what's being asked!

  • Tunagirl is right. A) these horses are bred for this and they are natural high steppers. saddleseat celebrates that athleticism. B) the "gated" side to them is also natural, try getting a non gated horse to rack, its simply impossible C) are canter pirouettes natural? no. is a passage natural? no. so saddleseat is more natural than dressage is. dressage is simply celebrating the athleticism of a horse in a different, unique way. both disciplines deserve a lot of respect.

  • wow thats truly amazing! beautiful horse too!

  • what did it take to get him to move like that? what kind of shoes, anything on his heels?

  • Sometimes weighted shoes, or chains, which are extremely light and do not hurt them. But saddlebreds are born high stepping.

  • I frown on the chains but then again the weights aren't my fav either. It's trainers preferance. I personally like natually high steppng horses like saddlebreds. A lot of it is blod lines now days.

  • Yeah they don't sound too friendly but once during a lesson when I used to ride saddle seat she put them on, and I realized how truley innocent they are. They are lighter than a bracelet and just create a tickling feeling that encourages them to pop up their legs more.

  • I just always worry about something getting caught on something else ya know? XD

  • lol yeah I've never thought about it that way

  • lawl I wouldn't take worry advice from me though XD I worry over everything

  • All them different gaits in one horse breed are amazing. The training involved for them to do all these gaits with a rider,as well as the rider have to be able to work together to do it right

  • that's amazing

  • wow i would love to have a horse like that

  • ughhh i would love to ride him! he is gorgeous!!

  • He is beautiful and looks very high spirited - quite lovely to watch......

  • wow, beautiful horse. he's got great movement!
