when i do gradient nails and when i sponge them on, the chunks from the foundation spouge just sticks on my nails and it gets messy when i remove it, any tips?

Totally awesome nails, I'll need to try and get myself a good natural nail colour base. My own nails are so flimsy and break all the time so when I do put nail varnish on it's always on fake ones and they're so white and fake looking unfortunately.
