It was the first year there had been a MayDay Bank Holiday, and the rest of the British Isles were shrouded in cloud and rain; but at Padstow the sun shone all day !
Doc Rowe, who has been recording folk customs with cameras and tape for 35 years plus, points out that the style of dancing, particularly the "teazers", has noticeably changed over the years, due, he suggests, to the dense crowds that now attend the event.
Greetings, Cornishtinminer, and thanks for the comment. I'm afraid there is no more - it was a sound recording that was played on Radio Three on St George's Day, so no original video. I recorded it from the radio, and added some still pictures that I found in assorted places on the internet. The BBC didn't give any details of the recording, so I assume it was from their archive, and not otherwise available.
