If I remember correctly, they included a free gift (bubble bath) with the 7". The trouble was, stocks of the free gift kept running out, and since fans would prefer to wait till the free gift was in stock again, the single kept going up and down in the charts. They were at the height of their success when this came out.
Love it still! Yes, I'm that old I was at the concerts many many years ago. They were good fun then and the music still is. The wrinkles may move without stopping, but at least this keps my brain young. Capture the feeling of a generation.
I did a drawing of Tracey and took it to the Belfast gig in 88. I threw it up on the stage and 6 months later I got a letter from Tracey saying she had it framed up in her house! I recently found her on Facebook and she still has it. Top that!
I saw these guys in the Europa Hotel in Belfast in 1988/89 and I remember very vividly Tracy berating one guy with the words "young man if you spit again I will take you over my lap", incidentally I was a small 16 year old girl who then got squished in the mosh pit! Ah the memories, good music then and good music still!
Everyone here is absolutely right!!!!!! The Primitives were a fantastic band! I still love them to this day. I first got into them in 1987 before "Crash" hit big in america. Despite the line-up changes, they still retained a great sound. Tracy Tracy always looked and sounded heaven-like, especially during her redhead phase. I always loved the emotion that their music always captured. Of course, this was the period of the Coventry invasion with all the blond female led bands. Primitives #1!
Yeah, I really LOVE this song too! And Tracy looks great in this video, doesn't she? Yummy! I would have loved playing this song for a couple of guys in my past who were big losers. :P
Great band with great songs, should have been more successful! Saw them in LA twice, damn good show. I would think, that management was lacking in getting them the exposure.
you know for the time they had much of the look and sound down that should have made them a wider success. Too bad this video isn't up to snuff. I don't know who did it but they weren't very good. I can think of many great shots & concepts to exploit the bands look more fully.
One of this brilliant band's finest. IMO Tracy was at her most beautiful with her 1989 brunette look. Saw them at the Town & Country then - in my first month at Uni - and she was ravishing.

At least Primitives didn't get on emimusic like Terry Blair and Anouchka did. That's way they won't have to fight with Crowded House.
