You fail to mention the punch in on "WAY" you make me feeeeeeeeeee. I have/had a small studio and punching in is so easy to hear once you've done a few times. I've had numerous fellas record this with me and I noticed what TO ME sounds CLEARLY like a punch in on WAY! Am I nutz? Gavin is my favorite new male VOICE in any genre of late and/but I've never heard/read if this can or has been confirmed/denied. To me it sticks out like a sore thumb. I'm very legally blind(gift?curse?)

So I don't know if you even read this anymore but...

You're absolutely right about the bite, it places it more forward and allows an easy ascent to the high notes. And it's a mix, and he can get there because of the "bite". If the bitey part was farther back, he would have a harder time hitting the Ab and it would be heavier. And that "riff" thing is just a portamento. It's typical in operetta and is even written into some R&H.
