Thought for the day..... I was a teenager in the 80's, we're our pop heroes more caring back then??? They were always getting together to raise money.....

  • Did Brian ever get the money for this track I wonder? It was nice of his friends to help him out.

  • Kim Wilde! And is that Jeff Beck as well?

  • Wonderful track for a fantastic cause at the time.

  • BOY GEORGE!

  • Anytime music artist gather for a good cause is good enough for me. The Zeebrugge Ferry disaster kill almost 200 people, sadly I remember. Thanks to everyone who gave of their time & voice. Great job everyone!

  • i dont know hardly any of these people????????

  • Y'en a plein que je reconnais ou ne connais pas. Dommage, j'aime bien savoir qui est qui.Ils devraient mettre le texte de chaque gars qui chante avec leur nom, ça serait cool !

  • @ hunterman I'm pretty sure that's Howard Jones smoking. I remember this very well, god the 80's I miss you.

  • Kim Wilde... Marry me.

  • Mark Knopfler rocks on the Guitar, a true king!!

  • At 2:38 some jerk is smoking a cigarette. Was Philip Morris the sponsor? BOOOOOOO!

  • gary moore,fucking amazing

  • a great cause..but would have been better if they had been clubbed....i mean if they had clubbed together and raised the cash that way, instead of murdering a classic song. some good singers mingling with desperate one hit wonders,.. and the line up at the end..boy george clinging to nick kamen....you can almost here the handcuffs clinking in his pocket...

  • Boy George... great voice !!!

  • Strabello!!!!

  • Nik Kershaw & Kate Bush = Fu**ing Amazing Artists.

  • what the hell happ. to boy george ??great voice, just messed his career up since

  • The Beatles music is universal and will never die

  • Who's the girl at 2:28, I thoght Kim Wilde, but doesn't really look like her.

  • it definately is Kim Wilde, I knew her personally in those days.

  • I'm not convinced.

  • kim wilde was so hot...

  • @muratyc1185 She still is! She hasnt aged a day!

  • Always liked this version. Thanks for posting!

  • Does anyone know who is the guy standing next to Ben from Curiosity, who is smoking at 2:39? It actually looks like Ben and is wearing the same sort of clothes, but I can't seee why they would have shot two lots of footage of him wearing different outfits when they didn't do that for anyone else.

  • words of wisdom: Let it be! I do not know about Mother but I met Mother of Teresa of Calcutta twice in London and Rome, and she was so simply absolutely right: let it be!!

  • is he paul mccartney or william campbell ?

  • Fuck, I didn't realise Nick Kamen was in this. How could I have missed this.

    Ben from Curiosity. Sweet.

    Paul King. Fine.

It was teenage porn for a young gay gelfling.

  • "Artists to have contributed and performed solo spots on the song are as follows (in order of appearance): •Paul McCartney •Boy George •Sarah Dallin, Keren Woodward and Nick Kamen •Paul King •Mark King •Taffy •Andy Bell •Pepsi and Shirlie •Mel and Kim •Jaki Graham •Gary Moore (guitar solo) •Mark Knopfler (guitar solo) •Kim Wilde and Nik Kershaw •Edwin Starr •Ben Volpeliere-Pierrot •Ruby Turner •Kate Bush" I found this list on the other video

  • Masterpiece

  • @1Milkman11 Agreed

  • When I first heard this song I was deeply inspired. So I made my own version of Let It Be... I must warn that it is rap music, but not like you hear on TV nowadays. It has a positive message like the rest of my music. There are only 2 kinds of music... good and bad. Search "Let it Be Vthov" Give it a chance and you won't regret it (I think). Jam it or slam it in my comments, I'll take whatever feedback I can get positive or negative. Peace and respect fam...

    -Vthov

  • i know what you're saying....it could be your pure mind that you always think for someone.

  • great song.check out my cover of this song on my page please:)

  • there will be no sorrow, let it be :)

  • 1:58 - That solo is so much Knopfler. Just sitting on a chair looking bored, but enjoying it so much!

  • the beetles sang this to right?

  • awesome mate!!!! = )

  • I actually agree, but thinking in the fact that this helped people, makes it good.

    Though this version is terrible.

  • @juancamex

Glad you largely agree, though as good causes go this was a pretty ropey one. Terrible disaster though it was, its victims were essentially affluent Westerners who scarcely needed the cash in real terms - AND it was initiated by the Sun newspaper !

  • great song, best bit between 03.27-03.37. Go Kate, pure tenderness in the middle of all the passion.

  • Loving Gary Moores solo!

  • Highlights: Mark Knopfler & Kate Bush

  • @OverlandBull Highlight: Gary Moore

  • @road2ruins I'm with you.....Gary shredding makes the performance.

  • @road2ruins

You´re right - Gary Moore is the 3rd

  • @OverlandBull Kate Bush is amazing on this...

  • @ruthie10101010 Yes, Kate rocks. I love her part!

  • @OverlandBull Who are those? I like Boy George the best.

  • T U N E

  • Excellent souvenirs !!

  • GO KATE BUSH!

  • @KateBushRox best bit from 03.27-03.37

  • This was one many collaboration of charity records during the 1980's where chart regulars would group together ollowing horrific tragedies. This was one was set up by 'The Sun' newspaper to raise funds for the victims and families of Zeebrugge Ferry Disaster on 6th March 1987 and went straight to the UK no. 1 the following month.

  • @ShiveCanber Yes. Many of the trippers were using discounted travel tickets from the Sun.

  • Might explain why 'The Sun' was so keen to get involved. I had a friend who was on that ferry that night but was one of the lucky ones.

  • Kinda sucks...has everything other than "feel"

  • Chi cacchio è la tipa che si vede al 2.27 che canta col tizio felpato?

  • It's Gary Moore

  • Edwin Starr could whoop Chris Rock at humour...love his act at 2:48

  • these artists all got together to sing this song to raise money for the families of all those who died in the Herald of Free Enterprise disaster - hardly FUNNY. very moving song

  • This song wasn't picked up in Australia but I can still remember how well Kim Wilde and Nik Kershaws voices worked! Instead of two refugees from the 80s most synth-laden sounds, this made me give them a whole new respect. Beautifully sung. Not an ego-laden warble between them.

  • I can't stop laughing at 2:48

  • Yeah it's nice, who's the guy?

  • Darryl Pandy - best known for "Love Can't Turn Around" by Farley Jackmaster Funk

  • please tell me who's that girl in 2.27? ta.

  • oh one of my fav part has always been 1:20 miss them

  • Yeah mel & kim where class

  • wow! mark knopfler!

  • It was a charity rerecording of the classic Let It Be after the Herald of Free Enterprise sank just after leaving Zeebrugge in 1987 as the crew left the bow doors open and this lead to it quickly over turning and killing 193 of around 540 people on board.

  • Good song, but what is ferry aid?

  • Ferry Aid was like band aid, acts getting together to raise money this was for the Zebruga disaster in 1987

Ten years ago, I specifically played that track on repeat as I slept. I woke up in the early hours with this still playing and what a magical feeling. I love it.

  • I love you George!!!<33

Live Aid & Ferry Aid = the best

  • Boy George's voice sounds amazing on this! Nick Kershaw and Kim Wilde sound good together too.

  • GARY MOORE <3

  • Boy George is amazing!

  • Thanks for posting this video. I haven't watched or heard it in twenty years, when I was over on holiday in Italy in June/July 1987 (I live in the USA, and had I not gone on holiday in Italy I would never have heard such a great song - we don't get many UK-based charity songs in the States since Live Aid's "Do they know it's Christmas").

  • How beautyful this song is! Love it!

  • This version of the song is great.I remember the ferry disaster vividly.

The star count in this vid is amazing!I remember being really excited seeing Keren from Bananarama in the first couple of minutes,Mel and Kim,Kim Wilde!,Sara at 4:12 what a lovely smile,

When your a kid you sometimes don't understand the meaning of songs but this song also reminds me of my lovely Nan who died a few months later.
