    Quick question if you don't mind please. Is it in any way easier to play other stringed instruments once you are an advanced guitarrist?

  • Mmm... not an easy one to answer! I don't think being 'advanced' guitar is necessarily a major factor, but getting one's fingers accustomed to playing melodies on the strings - getting used to the movement and getting fluid - is obviously an advantage. The mandolin, IMHO, is actually great for playing these kinds of tunes because the scales and melody lines fit the tuning (in 5ths) better than guitar. You can be a good player on mando and poor on guitar - and vice versa. Different disciplines!
