i have no problem with her connection to her ancestry....as for myself i am a black indigenous by way of Algonquin Nation, Shinnecock Tribe, Turtle Clan reppin Long Island 13 tribes......i feel more African of dispora need to reach back and find that connection to themselves...it a beautiful thang
I know about Black Indians and I know how a majority of black people I come across on the eastcoast claim "Blackfeet". I think most of them just say that because it has the word Black in it, and they have no idea what tribe they're connected to. A lot of black people are mixed with white also, but they never claim that.
I know black people have a lot of Indian blood; but don't claim its Blackfeet! Those people are in Montana and Canada; where the black population is 0.5% of the total population. So the chances of all these black people on the east coast claiming descent from Blackfeet Indians is absurd!
I did MY research and found that she claims a connection to over 6 different tribes! She has said she is Blackfeet, Cherokee, Lumbee, Shawnee ,Blackfoot and Choctaw. Bullshit! this makes her sound rediculous and she loses any credibility for being Indian. You don't choose what nation you are from, you have a genuine relationship and connection to your people or you DON'T!
I like her singing voice, but I do not like the fact that she pretends to be Indian. Why do all black people who "might" have Indian blood, say they are Blackfeet? C'mon people! If I were Blackfeet, I'd be pissed off! Research your geneaolgy before you claim something!
