@united4ever786 like in the discraption said he has to get use to u coming up on you're hand like mine yesterday was his first time coming on my arm and flew back good luck with that
@helluvablunt give him time he is still adjusting sometimes they are stressed and need to relax and realize that this is their new home
he will eat after a while first he needs to see that he is safe and have a few hours alone to adjust he will slowly start to eat and drink water ..then he will eat other stuff make sure you leave the millet in there for a few days .. check on it to see if he's eating , and then only give it to him once in a while
thats amazing! he's learnt so quickely! and hes beautiful! i saw a cockatiel that was all white with chocolate brown wings the other day, I almost bought him, but i was in Paris haha
I hate cable shrieks. the rest of the seeds fall to the ground. I have now chopped vegetables into a pot (it looks like but with fruit concentrate and colors and more)
waw i just got my cockatiel about a week ago hes two years old the owner of the bird told me he dint tame him but i started to train him to do that but on my sholder ^^
thats good ..and the more time you spend with your bird the better it will be , birds need their brain stimulated by training and it helps build a bond between you two ... anywayz happy training
My bird has millet in his cage so now he doesnt think of it as a treat anymore. I've taken the millet out but do you have any other tips because im trying to teach him with my birdie basket ball hoop???
my cockatiel is already very tame but it's impossible to train her because she doesn't respond to most foods! she eats on her own accord but just cos i'm holding some millet doesn't mean she'll fly to me :( how should I train her to do this?
i feed them both they have to have more pellets then seeds in thier diet .. its not healthy to have too much seeds ... and for the millet it depends how much is it in the mix? if its just tiny pieces then u can go head and train with a whole millet stick ... it all depends what your bird likes the most
hey, i don't really know how old is my cockatiel, he looks like less than 1year and i know that he's young. He cant fly correctly cuz he grew up in a lil cage in a pet shop you know, dou you have some tips for him to improve his flights? thank u
oh ok ..we ll u can put the bird in the back seat beside you and put a seat belt over the cage...also make sure you have water and food with you on hand in case it spillls or something also might want to put some old towel in the bottom of the cage (depending on the cage if it fits and everything) so that dirt and stuff wont fall out and mess up the car also if the driver of the car does a sudden break the bird might fall and land on the soft towel ...
keep the bird in the front seat of the car in his cage or a small carying cage ... and keep the seat belt over the cage ...a 10 hour car trip might be too much for a little bird ...
try driving with him for a short 15 minutes trip and see how he reacts
if he is too stressed then maybe you should leave him with someone insted of taking him on the trip ..
she just needs to get excited about coming to you... give her treats and start with making her walk to you, then step on the finger ... then jump on it ... this will take time ... and try to do this after 1to 2 hours after she ate .,.. then she wont be so full
my little bird Putte is about a year and his friend did die.. :( he don't have so much trust in me becouse i once did hurt him when i was going to help him out the curtain. so i wonder what i should do to make him trust me. the clicker thing is not working :/ thanks for help <3
keep tryin clicker training ... make sure u dont stress your bird in any way ...this will take a while
if your bird doesnt want to do the clicker training dont force him ...just try again another time ... watch the way his reaction changes and body movement .. this will help you see if he is worried or not ... if something doesnt feel right ..just stop what your doing
i love ur pumpkin she is gorgeous im getting my cockatiel tomorroe but mine will be a lutino cockatiel and i cant wait i love watching ur video i learned lots from u keep it up and take care
dats fine if he steps up when u put ur hand under him .. did u try clicker training ?
make a click when he gets on ur hand and give him a treat to reward him so he knows what he did will reward him ...
u can try looking at my videos there all described in the video info thing on how to do that..1st get him to step up on cue..then u can check out my videos Clicker training #3 - sitting on my hand & finally copy what i do in this one ,its the same technique for everything
my tiel doesnt kno when....if i play with him now,he'll folo, but after i put him in cage, and take him out,he fogot...pls make me a vid on how u teach him, full version pls
the thing is mine did NOT want to step up AT ALL in the beginning ..u got to keep repeating it all the time ..mine would be afraid and after a while he got use to it ... i kept using the clicker and rewarding him with his favourite food (millet) and finally he did it
The thing is every bird is different and learns differently .. some learn slower and some faster then others ..u got to see what works for him best ..
just keep practising with him ..
mine sometimes does not feel like doing anything ..and then i just leave him alone and try another time..
all i can say is just keep trying and be patient ..mine doesn't step up perfectly every time i want him to..
you are so blessed to have one of theese pretty creatures um about how much did she cost with tax, toys, food, cage and all. People keep telling me it depends on were you get them from. but i am asking a few people how much theirs cost; so i kneed to know how much money to save. I have acually been cleaning the house all by my self so i can save up for a cockatiel. by the way how did you actually get him to you know jump on your hand was it just the name calling.you are so lucky? ashley
i had the same question asked b4 and i answered it fully in my video "Pumpkin" the sideshow one(its in one of the comments)..
but i got mine for $80 and it was an untamed one ..this is why i did the videos b.c he was never use to being around humans
***
the jumping came when he got use to me having to call him and tease him with a treat beside the cage having my hand close to it .. so the gap wasn't too big but he still had to jump

do you feed ur bird pellets or seeds
cuz im feeding my bird seeds and i looked on the box and it has millet seeds in it
so do you use millet to train still or some other food except for sunflowers
ratsrule247 3 years ago
i feed them both they have to have more pellets then seeds in thier diet .. its not healthy to have too much seeds ... and for the millet it depends how much is it in the mix? if its just tiny pieces then u can go head and train with a whole millet stick ... it all depends what your bird likes the most

izabelas000 3 years ago
the mix i looked at it was seeds wit a little bit of sunflower seeds
i cant remeber all of it
but im gonna feed them some fruits and veges 2

hey, i don't really know how old is my cockatiel, he looks like less than 1year and i know that he's young. He cant fly correctly cuz he grew up in a lil cage in a pet shop you know, dou you have some tips for him to improve his flights? thank u
PeezyWeee 3 years ago
well i would incurage the bird to fly by making him do what i do in the video jump to you then fly to you
just try to make him come to you by flying
this is a matter of time and effort you two put in to this ... if you keep on training with him he will get a lot better at flying
but im wondering if maybe his wings have some sort of damage maybe ?
i dono you will have to see if its just the age and experience or if its something more thats preventing him from flying
izabelas000 3 years ago
well he has a lil damage on his tail like you can see in my video
"the start of sthg new"
but i don't know if it matters
oh by the way: thank you ^^
NubiTheCockatiel 3 years ago
lol it matter cuz their tail helps them fly
ratsrule247 3 years ago
oh ok ..we ll u can put the bird in the back seat beside you and put a seat belt over the cage...also make sure you have water and food with you on hand in case it spillls or something also might want to put some old towel in the bottom of the cage (depending on the cage if it fits and everything) so that dirt and stuff wont fall out and mess up the car also if the driver of the car does a sudden break the bird might fall and land on the soft towel ...

there picky when it comes to food...
try giving her something you know she likes and mix it in a bowl with other food
izabelas000 3 years ago
she just needs to get excited about coming to you... give her treats and start with making her walk to you, then step on the finger ... then jump on it ... this will take time ... and try to do this after 1to 2 hours after she ate .,.. then she wont be so full
izabelas000 3 years ago
well take baby steps 1st
make her step up on ur finger, after she doest it and gets use to it
then make her jump to your finger (your have to be a bit further from her)
but not too far or else she will give up and not want to do it .. something like what i did in the beginning of the video..
then you keep moving back till she flys to you
