  • "I'm so much better that I get to sit up" CLASSIC!

  • Comment removed

  • Smoking surely ruins your voice.

  • She is one of the greatest comedian's

  • Phyllsi Diller goes to the restaurant I work ( The Golden Bull of Santa Monica , CA )at all the time . She is very nice , tips well and is in amazing shape for her age . Able to walk on her own and is independant at 93 . Many other folks are in a wheelchair and live in a nursing home by 75-80.

  • She always drew her eyebrows like that. I loved her voice & her laugh when she was much older.

  • I get the distinct impression that Groucho just could NOT think that a woman could ever be a standup comic. In Groucho's defense, it was 1957, whereas NONE of it would be tolerated now in 2010. I would have loved to read what Groucho was thinking in this encounter.

  • 7-17-2010. She's full of glee at 93. Happy Birthday, Phyllis. You and I have something in common today. We have the same birthday. I'm 48, by the way. And you've come a long way since that January day in 1958. I remember you in Blossom and "guest-starring" on The New Scooby-Doo Movies. Many happy returns today and may you have many more.

  • Phyllis Diller's first television appearance was with Groucho Marx?(That's the most ironic thing I've ever heard!)

  • She uses her plastic surgery as a stand up for her comedy routines. She is very honest about it, too. Not many people like her would touch on that subject, no matter if you are a comedian. But Phyllis is such a legend that is hard to not applaud as being one of the funniest ladies of the 60s and 70s. She is a rarity of a class act and still going strong at 92.

  • @83survivor , a class act indeed. Unlike Joan Rivers, Phyllis Diller has succeeded in being hilarious without ever hurting and exploiting other people. There has never been any meanness in her act. It's entirely unoffensive comedy, yet laugh-out-loud funny. She truly is a role model.

  • I think she is great! God bless Phyliss Diller.

  • I love her laugh. She is the original queen of comedy.

  • Ol Grouch just wasnt hip to the new jive

  • classy lady. those eyebrows were rough. lol.

  • I love this woman. She had a rough start, but grew to be a real role model for women in comedy. Thank you, Queen Phyllis!

  • In that old clip when she was in her 20's, her nose is huge, but now when you look at her she got a small nose. She must have had a nose job.

  • She had an everything job! You have to look up all the work she did on herself.

  • You are right, Lol

  • do you really think that she has had only ONE nose job? Take a look at her over the years - MJ has nothing on Phyllis - she is such a peach!!

  • @STARPOWER1974 ... she was in her 40s!

  • Yeah! I read her book "like a lampshade in a whorehouse" and the network really REALLY got her to edit her material to being as non-offensive as possbile...Hence this

  • truly a great moment in television history!!

  • Thank you for the clip.
