You have to feed the material between the two really thin pieces of metal one has little teeth on it and you kinda go with the material from front to back until it slides in there.
I have the same problem! I think you must have to have an engineer's or rocket scientist's degree to figure it out!! But it looks so easy on the other video!!! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!

Ok so i see that you posted this awhile ago so I am sure that you are a ruffling pro by now! lol (unless you gave up!) lol I have a pattern that is telling me to use a 3:1 ratio...... HUH???? I dont know which number to set in on (on the top thing) Hope that makes sense and you can help! Getting pissed at this thing! Thanks
you need to adjust it on the top 1-5 is ruffle 6-12 is pleat and their is another setting up there that is straight stitch. I guess thats what its on. I just got a ruffler foot and read that but your better than me cuz I can't get it on. How did you do that? help me
This sounds like something that would happen to me if I got a ruffler.... Have you figured this out yet.... I'd really like to know, because soon I'm going to purchase one..... thanks,
yeah, its basically what everyone said, just force the fabric under the thing with teeth. its a little bit of a pain to use, but so much more easier than hand ruffling. it does use more fabric than hand ruffling though.
At 2:01 frame video shot where you said, "Should I place it between here and forced it through." Well, that is where you place the fabric. Just position it there. Place tip of fabric to about 1/2" above pass the black metal gear and hold slightly straight and sew. It should gather from that point on.
It doesn't ruffle because I see that you had placed the fabric under and over the ruffler foot. What you should do is placed the fabric in the middle where the ruffler black metal gadget moves the fabric to gather. Hope that helps.
The area where you say you need to "force" the fabric in is what you need to do. Refer to that portion of the video. When you force the fabric forward directly underneath the jagged metal piece it will be impossible to pull back, because it "grabs" the fabric. As far a the rear portions, those are there for even feeding purposes, and don't necessarily need to be used if you don't need to. Good Luck!
go to creativeneedlemagDOTcom. Look under Articles, then Footprints for detailed instructions. You can also see a video on the Singer site under support, then presser feet. My guess is you either have the adjusting lever set to "0" (zero)...as it will give you a straight stitch. Also there is an Adjusting Screw on the front...try loosening or tightening that.
