Okay guys, so here are the specs:

OS: WIN 7 Ultimate 64bit

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 Processor 3.0GHz

RAM: 6GB Transcend DDR3

Motherboard: ASRock N68C-S UCC

I haven't been a gamer for quite a longer while but I'm really willing to try out this GTA, to have a little fun. So I was wondering if I buy this graphic card, will the GTA run good for me as well as it ran to this guy who recorded this?

I have a 4850HD and the display driver fucking restarts whenever I try to play.

I've tried 3 different versions (including latest and first Windows 7 release) of the Catalyst drivers..

I have found *3* people with the same problem on various forums and they don't know the solution either.

@SuperBG78 I fixed the problem, so I can actually play now :D Have you got the latest patch? It gets a lot faster after that.

I dont understand.All people are saying that you need at least 300 euros or dollars to get a decent card.This card costs 85 euros and can play gta iv with even higer resolution than 1440x900{which is very good}with medium/high settings.And with the new patch view distance can go to 100 with 512 vram.Even my 3 years old saphire 3870{If you can find it it costs around 100 euros} play all the new games with high settings on dx10.

The new update fixes shadows. Btw im on a ASUS Hd 4850 and a dual core 5200+ Amd. and i play everything on highest. Shadows dont get that weird pixel thing now thanks to 1.0.0.6 update

I have this same card and I run at 1680x1050 with all high and I get over 30 fps. I have an e7200 oc to 3.8ghz, 4 gb ram, and a 500watt rosewill psu. Check out my video if you don't believe me. Runs smooth as hell.

Sorry got your comment mixed up, was thinking about Crysis for some reason (another game that is hard to run @ high settings). Type "P 7805u FX New T9900 CPU Upgrade!!! GTA 4 Extra High Settings 1920 by 1200" I made that video as proof to my claims.

@IvOOO95 I am not a troll rofl, I have proof. Type "GTA 4 NEW T9900 upgrade" and my vid is the first one on the list. All settings on high and very high except for the misc ones because I tweked those in the .cfg files in the installation folder.

@lzarwisa um my process is the upgrade, I believe your question is if any laptop can do this upgrade? if so, no. Your motherboard and BIOS has to support the upgrade, look up your machine on the notebookreview forums and find out if you can.

Well my ram never reaches above 1.5GBs so I'm still good. I now have ddr2-1066 @ 510MHz and it's running alot better.

I haven't played it on xbox360 bro but I think the amount of data on the PC version is twice (2x dual layered DVD's) of the xbox/ps3, and the hardware greatly outperforms these devices.

of course it's better. x2 3.0 ghz = 6.0 ghz x4 2.3 ghz = 9.2 ghz!Especially in this game, it requires a quad core processor to play it maxed.(even with x4 won't go over 55-60 fps)So yep, x4 ftw :)

but think about how slow a single core is to a dual. and a dual to a quad. It may not equal an exact 1:1 ratio of performance, but from going to my dual core 1.86ghz piece of shit to my current Quad core 2.66ghz... both rendering time and benchmark tests have increased around 4 fold. So don't doubt the power of the quad =D.

But cores aren't everything. You have l1, l2, l3 cache to worry about. Along with wattage, clock speeds, what type of connection, how hot a processor gets, and more.

Yea but a core 2 duo 2.8ghz is still a great processor for years. I specifically got my q9400 with the idea in mind that I wouldn't have to upgrade to i7 and get a brand new motherboard, ram, etc.

Everything! 8500 GT Much too weak to support the graphics even on low and Cpu Dual Core it's olay but this game requires more Cpu Usage then GPU usage a Quad Core I would Recomend for this game to be played really well Ram is okay but get like two more GB of it to smoothin things out a bit more It would most likely come out to be like a 500-700 Upgrade Maybe Case inluded with the New Setup I just finished builind my new Machine Lol XD
