I Always Listen To This Song When I Feel Like Using.. It REminds Me.. also always listen to this with needle and the damage by neil young these two songs seem to fit perfectly..
Just getting ready to go on a run or just coming of a long run, makes this song really hit home. Do you think when he is singing about " Girl (coke) don't come knockin on my door" I didn't think anyone could make an acoustic sound so dark except maybe alice in chains.
I always thought that verse was literally about women. In an earlier version (bootleg) he sings "don't come knocking at my door, seen that stuff you got before." Could hear it either way, though, and definitely a dark, scary song. If I remember right, McGee's book on Earle says they pounded a steel pipe in the stairwell to get the sound.
