Looking at these various wildcats, and their traits. I wonder how much went into domesticating cats, and if the domestics we all own and know have some of various species of wildcats blood. I could almost see my Maine Coon, doing the same thing, with that pumpkin. He's the most curious of my cats, and investigates anything new, in just about the same manner. Looking at the list and pictures of wildcats, it does make me wonder...
@thenewsonsblues YO, they are NOT pig cats. They only weigh about 8 - 10 lbs. What you are seeing is fur. They are wild and come from a climate where the temperatures can hit close to -40 below zero. They need their dense coats to keep them warm. Otherwise they would never survive in their natural habitat.
@imsoohoo They are wild animals that come from a very cold climate, hence their dense coats. They are about the size of a housecat, but they are NOT domestic animals in any way and they do not make good pets. They are very hissy, they don't like to be picked up, and they are definintely not lap cats.

Funny. My cats like a good pumpkin too, strangely enough.

I think I once heard someone call Pallas's cats "Owl cats" because of the appearance of their heads.
