  • I watch this video over and over again and I still can't get enough. I love the spirit of this duo. Its amazing how the creativity of artists can speak so personally to others' souls. I feel this resonating happiness every time I press play. Thank You for sharing your talents.

  • She's outstanding.

  • I surely fell in love with her, but she scares me when she's yelling

  • brought tears to my eyes....thx

  • i've said it before and i'll say it again, npr tiny desk musicians have the best guitars

  • I can't get enough of this or any NPR Tiny Desk concert for that matter. Thank you NPR for creating such a great musical venue

  • She's the female Ray Lamontagne.

  • Brilliant for sure.

  • ok the song "Siverado" gives me goose bumps.

I can't believe Trixie's voice. Her singing goes right to my soul

  • Just can't stop listening .... Love it !

  • mostruosa, forse anche troppo "potente" in certi momenti, comuque da brivido...

  • argh!...

  • what a voice

  • surely you were meant to be heard.

  • I think they are the best.

The band with Daniel Lanois Brian Blades and Daryl Johnson is just unbelievably at the top of their game. Couple that with the addition of Trixie Whitley who makes my heart soar everytime she uses her amazing voice to belt out tunes with the heart felt soul of a true angel.

A voice that truly invokes Janis Joplin , Billie Holiday channeling great blues artists of the past.

Oh my god they are so good.

    Thank you!

  • What a voice, you guys rock. Thanks for performing and posting.

  • @kcveitch Daniel is irritated because he broke a string.

  • I don't get why it takes the audience, after every song, like 5 seconds before they start to clap.. Aren't they watching or paying attention?? it's akward for trixie and Daniel. I would go nuts if I would see this live and would most def start to clap too soon! :) They are magic..

  • @MsElete They wait to clap because they want to capture every last sound to preserve it. They respect the music to much to clap over even the fade out. I think you'll find that musicians and music journalists have an understanding there.

  • @kcveitch Really? So why does Daniel look irritated at the end of the last song when Again it takes seconds for them to clap after Trixie sang the soul out of her body... I can be wrong though ! To me it looks a bit like that...:)

  • They're voice melt together. I've never expected to find God on YouTube.

  • after listening on here about a hundred times, i had to buy the album.... i really love the stripped down versions on here though. so powerful with just the vocals and a guitar

  • @AchelleGrooves Strangely enough - I love pretty much everything I've heard from Black Dub, except the pieces on the actual album... and I really did want to love that album.

  • Good gosh...what a VOICE! shades of Eva Cassidy....

  • Holy Cow! Thank you NPR for helping me discover these bands I should have known about a long time ago!!! This woman's voice is a revelation!!!

  • Trixie Whitley is one of those persons/musicians where you think "Yea, she's pretty sweet" and then you hear them again and you go "Damn, how good can she actually be?"

  • Purely spellbinding.

  • The gods where in a particularly generous mood, the day they came up with Trixie Whitley :-)

  • Thank you again NPR Tiny Desk for bringing the Shi%!

  • she would look amazing with no makeup

  • The great thing about these talented musicians is that they're able to reinvent their songs again and again.

  • You're so AMAZING Trixie,Where the HELL have you been hiding?? The WORLD needs to hear what you have to say.Enjoy your ride to the stars lady, cause you already are one,the WORLD just don't know it yet!!

  • @manimal75 She has been amazing since she was a little girl dancing on stage with her dad while he played. She really is a super talent.

  • Is She crying?! After that first one!!...wooow!

  • this is so much better than the over produced studio recording

  • @bapbap22 I agree, but then again, *overproduced* Achtung Baby is so brilliant!

  • what gives me chills is at points she sings like here dad, creepy

  • GIFTED greatly

  • SURELY you sing

  • ... just saw them and Rocco DeLuca at the El Rey last night. Oh yes. You should be jealous. It was phenomenal!!

  • I am in love with her voice! Can't wait to see them all play live :D

  • That Silverado song is AMAZING ! And what about her voice at 4:26 to 4:33 !!!

  • He looks at her entirely to much when they play.

  • @Brandnewfan947 Do you even realize how hard it is to accompany someone?

  • @Brandnewfan947 who can blame him?

  • @Brandnewfan947 That's communication between musicians dumbass.

  • @EatMeBeatMeGirl I wasn't hating on the music. Sorry if I offended you. I just found it a little strange haha.

  • This band shakes my core. Beautiful.

  • i could so see this song with a symphony orchestra!

    - amazing, even swings without blade.

  • Wow, great energy. I saw Trixie with her father, the late great Chris Whitley, at the Gibson guitar festival in the late 90s in Newport RI. They played a duet, I think Powerdown, she was maybe 8 or 9 but you could see her potential. I'm sure Chris is smiling somewhere.

  • definitely best album of the year... possibly, the decade.

  • @sonicpenguin exactly .... your right man !!! this album is incredible !!!!

  • She got the spirit and Daniel is probably bring his career to a new level with her.

  • what a treat! thank you!

    amazing...great vocals!

    f__ing love le noise!

  • This is what everything in the human heart and soul sounds and looks like.

  • That guitar has a sick sound - that girl is something else entirely.

  • @vinceinelkins Amen! If only they had made the list! Soul music (whatever its genre) is the peoples humble music and usually stays under the acclaimed radar. Black Dub is an awesome "Spotting".

  • this music goes right to my soul.............

  • nice!

  • This is my pick for best banf of 2010...

  • Thank you nprmusic! This is exactly why I subscribe to your channel - to discover amazing talent like Trixie and Daniel from Black Dub. I have watched this 4-song set 6 times in the last 3 days and ripped it to an MP3 that I have listened to more than 20 times all the way through.

I downloaded the album today on iTunes and find it so much more texturized then, of course, this sparse acoustic peformance. It's music I can be proud to groove out to and promote among friends. I LOVE TRIXIE!

  • She's super emotional with these songs and that makes them so amazing. I've sang songs when I didn't feel them and it was so boring. But when you can breathe life and emotion into them it's just chilling

  • Black Dub's album really is amazing! Such a great find!!

  • This performance is incredible! Her voice gives me chills. You can see and hear how much emotion she puts into her performance. This album is AMAZING! It's a must have!

  • Im moved. :] This has so much emotion.

  • very very great voice

  • @kingkotey --- How about just Great Voice? Very very does not really do much. Seriously, think about it.

  • @porkythepig007 weird comment. better think before talking or eat some chocolate first.

  • OMG! When will she come to Sweden?

  • Ohh I wish I was in there drumming when they recorded this. Some light brush work on a snare would just kill it.

  • @GotsTricks

Brian Blade is their drummer. No offence, but I don't think you'd do a better job than he did on the album :)

Tiny desk concerts are always a stripped down version of the actual music.

  • @kareljuwet

I guess kind you missed the context. I've seen drummers here before playing with light work. The first one put on youtube featured one too. As a musician I would have liked to had gotten a chance to play with them during this performance- I'm sure Mr Blade did better on the album. ;)

  • great performance

  • I'm frozen...Wow this has so much depth..Thanks NPR...

  • 14:24 I had to come back to this tab to see what was going on. Always use both guitars!
