i think they were confused coz they never played snake eater...but yeah screw the people who dissed mgs for lengthy cut scenes, the mgs saga is the best ever, story, characters, action, stealth, adventure, gameplay, graphics...all just the best n then it ended off solid snakes story perfectly, that final fight with his brother liquid just too freakin epic and then big bosses last...the only game, where i felt for the character as if i were with him on all those missions... even metal gear fans have to admit, the cutscenes could be condensed a bit... the final/ epiloge cutscene is about 70 min long, thats almost as long as a movie. and it has on average 3 to 6 times the dialog of most movies

yeah I see your point, but evidently if a formula works, why change it? Kojima is pretty loyal to his original fanbase (the few of us that don't mind sitting through hours of cutscenes) because it adds an element that no other video game has delved into as far as development has to offer per character. He isn't going to rebuild a new way of constructing something that has worked already, if anything he'll make it more innovative, but he'll never change it...I myself am glad he didn't.

ive played this game up to act 4 and it is awesome the story isn't really confusing and it ties everything together. but i think you could skip mgs3 and still get alot of the storyline. mgs3 is all about solid snake father which is big boss and eva aka big mama which you meet in this game

Hey, guys, I'm thinking of getting a PS3 in order too play all the intresting looking exclusives on it (Killzone 2, Resistance 2, etc.), and I was wondering wether or not I should pick this game up if i haven't played the other three games beforehand. This game is a masterpiece. The highly developed story told through lengthy cutscenes, has alwasys been one of the best aspects in the MGS series, and not for a second is action, and gameplay excellence sacrificed for it. The story isnt boring at all. Im about halfway in the game and I have loved every second of it. Hideo Kojima is a genius. Truly a 10 out of 10 game.

yes, they are 'much' easier to aim. think graw (ghost recon advanced warfighter). over-the shoulder and you can pivot the side of snake the camera will be on. the crosshairs are helpful too, they let you know where you're aiming and where the barrel of the gun is(so you know when, even though you see the enemy, your gun is aimed at a wall). it may not seem big but it's helpful. definetly an improvement over how we previously needed to aim. sry if i over did it on the reply :P

i bought a ps3 last year out of anticipation for this game. your question is loaded though... if you're an mgs fan then yes, definetly. if you've never played an mgs game before then.. you'll either love it, hate it, or be indifferent about it. i'm not gonna tell you to run out and buy a ps3 JUST for this game; that's your decision. i'll recommend a ps3 over the competeitors though.

I can't wait for this game!, the metal gear solid games are among the best games of all time and the fourth and final chapter looks like the best ever, reviewers like eurogamer just don't get it, the cutscenes are and always have been incredible and they are a part of the games story, if you don't like the cutscenes then you should'nt review the game because the game deserves to be reviewed by people who "get it" who can see the brilliance and beauty of these games.

god of war is probably the best action game I have ever played on the ps2, but metal gear solid 3 is by my opinion the best ps2 game of all time, but yeah it's hard to compare them gow is a typical action game and mgs 3 is action/adventure/stealth but anyway the point is that I love both games and of course mgs 2 and gow 2.
