  • Dis nigga is fast hope i can break records in high school

  • Asafa backed off close to the finish because this race was a heat. The Grand Prix in Reiti is two rounds, and this was simply a qualifying heat to get to the final. After running this heat he stated that he was saving himself for the final.

  • Usain also slacked off toward the end of his 9.69 WR. It's like as if something invisible is carrying them.

  • Asafa is the best!!!

  • news flash usain bolt ran a 9.69 last night at beijing and asafa sadly as being my fav sprinter ran a shitty (for him) 9.9 sumthing!

  • look at the end of the race just by the finishing line, he slows down

  • yo son 9.6 easy he chilled the last 10m

  • coz it was a heat he knew he was through so he didnt need to sprint the whole thign he wasnt aware he was going to break the world record was he?

  • yea he definitely wud have had atleast a 9.6 sumthin if he sprinted da whole way

  • 9.60!

  • omfg he jsut jogged at the end he could of got under 9.7 i reckon if he had sprinted... damn i ahte the way sprinters allways do that!

  • it's called energy conservation

  • it's called suck my balls lorddark77 as well i tihnk?

  • lol

  • Why does Asafa Powell chill in the end?

  • ok ok ok

everytime someone brakes a world record, they get paid shitloads of money, wot u see in races today, is the best slowing down so they can still beat their records. take bolt and powell, if they ran their hardest in a race, no slacking, they would get around 9.5 or less. no doubt that they know what their best is, that would've run it in training and then trained to only just beat their records

  • or not... :)

  • lol 9.5, I don't think Asafa slacked down in the olympics, he got a shitty time anyway. But Bolt did and perhaps he could have done 9,5. But Bolt has also run many races where he goes for 100% and yet have got a crappy time. Sometimes you run well sometimes you don't, it's not like they're sacking down everytime the run lol...

  • New World Record 9.72 !! Usain Bolt !! Will Asafa Powell answer to this ^^

  • Newsflash:

    Usain Bolt 9.72 World Record.

  • I think he slowed down without knowing the time. It was only the heats and he didn't need to run hard to the finish if he was leading. If he knew he was on WR time he might have ran the whole way.

  • It looks like Asafa Powell sprints about just 95 meters instead of 100m. I think he could beat that record again if he would sprint full length.

  • this fuck*n guy slowed down!!!

  • my best timing for 100m was 12.25 and im only twelve is that even good

  • that is quick, get down to a sprint training club

  • hes in his fuckin heats

  • I RAN IT IN 7.45 BEFORE

  • OMG oi make a quick entry for the olympics fuk omg that is insane, seriously take up sprinting dude

  • he fucking slowed down at the end he could of ran 9.70

  • I know I hate it when runners do that

  • Asafa is the last athlete anybody with ANY observation skills would suspect is on drugs...

  • I'm not so sure. Everyone these days that breaks a world record in the 100m is suspect. Ben Johnson ran a similar race back in '88 with a 9.79 i believe. He also stated that no on would ever run faster than that without the use of drugs. Seems pretty unbelievable to see a 9.74

  • hes never used drugs if he did he would have been caught , he gets tested more than anyone

  • yeah i think that was a load of bs, if you look closely it looks like he SLOWS down in the last second or two.

  • i have to agree with the commentator. The clock can't be argued with but that did not look like a 9.74.

  • its really good to see the other athletes congratulating him too

  • Yea, that's good stuff

  • Why do silly people post the same video on youtube 5 times over we only need 1 upload of this video

  • Asafa is just like Leroy Burrell when he was at his prime. He would dominate the season, running fast times and a couple of world records, but when the big event came along, he was hardly recognized as the world record holder or the fastest man, because he never won the big race.

  • hes got to do this against gay

  • dopping no?

    ahah

  • I love how calm the announcers are. The announcers when Gay almost broke the record went crazy until they announced the wind made it unnofficial.

  • hey whats the name of the song

  • and once again this video proves that powell is much faster than tyson gay

  • i cant disagree.

  • i disagree the only way to tell if which of the two people with roughly the same 100 meter time is faster is a head to head match. Tyson Gay won head to head...

  • I believe that was only because Powell was nervous. If both athletes were at their fastest, i'd go with Powell to win.

  • Its amazing how far one guy can break away from the pack in such a short race. I guess thats why he's the fastest man alive though :P

  • grande powell!!!!!

  • shit commentary

  • He just can't believe that he's jogging world record in heats :D

  • Actually guys.... I'm a sprinter, so I know he isn't slowing down at the end. RATHER he's using momentum to carry him to the finish. His amazing acceleration causes him to have a massive top speed, and his momentum carries him for the last 20m or so.

  • very true, although he should have held his form through the line - wouldnt have made much differnce to the time though...

  • do you really think that you know more than him and his coaches?

  • never said i did. Just said that if he wanted to go a tiny little bit faster, he should hav held form. But as it was a heat, he obviously didnt need to.

  • Dude, you could take steroids til your heart exploded, you'd never be as fast as Powell.

  • thats not necesarily true, cuz if you bulk too much your adding drag weight and then your legs are less free to move

  • if theyre are not allowed it isn cuz sports federations dont want better results, it is cuz steroids have secondary effects that not all athlets are willing to pay, so the thing is to try at the most to maintain sport as something healthy not something ull ruin ur metabolism for performance.

  • i totally agree. that would be better for everyone. i mean, we are humans, and we were given intellegence to invent things. a record made by steroids is still a record and accomplishment that has never been done.

  • Your Lack of understanding towards a personnel code is disturbing.

  • if only he didnt slow down at the end! asafa best ever!!

  • another US lover that cant stand another country to have the fastest man, just look at his arms 20m before hi finishes the race, that is slow down.

  • who said i can't stand you guys having the fastest man? idc who the fastest man is and where they are from i just think he didn't slow down

  • estabon u'd better watch the video b4 u make comments

  • powell is a great sprinter, it pisses me off to see gatlin drugged up and walk away with accolades. thank god marion jones got what was coming to her. he should be stripped as well.

  • asafa greatest ever!!!!!

    fucking fast

  • he jogged the last 5meters. i wonder what his time could ahve been

  • He has a different technique to the rest of runners and probably stronger muscles in a different proportion to the others. Thats why hes winning the races.

Nobody is foolish enough at this time in athletics to do drugs. Unless its some out of the box chemical side effect they are using to hide it.

  • asafa did not take steroids or drugs, stop insulting him,de onli supplements he's taking is Double-X,by Amway...

  • yeahhh...RIGHTTTTT

  • ich laufe auf 100 meter 11,89 Sekunden

  • wow! nowadays the fastest athlete is the one who has the most powerful and the most undetectable drugs in him.. but I doubt Jamaica has the best drugs! So this record is VERY deserved. And yes Americans only win cause they have the best doping...

  • No dude. Unlike US track, Jamaican sprinters run for national pride not individual accolades, and there's no pride in a steroid-enhanced win.

But is it really that hard to believe that a 6'3" black guy with a stride longer that Paul Bunyan's is fast?? c'mon man.

  • lol

  • Yeah - just cause yall got BALCO u think Jamaica has somm goin on huh? Gimme a break.

  • asafa oranın taaaa amınaaaaa koydu

  • Well humm.....uh how about more than you'll ever have, pipsqueake!

  • I like Gay cuz he's a true competitor, but honestly, he doesn't have a 9.74 in him whereas Asafa still has a 9.72 in him. But yeah, Powell can't keep hiding behind the WR (which he ran against lightweights). To be the king he's gonna have to prove himself against the big boys in big races and win some golds.

  • LOL "I'm not sure it was that was fast!"

I'm not surprised he broke the record.

    Asafa + double x = unstoppable

  • Hard to get a good idea of how fast that is from that angle. I agree, it does look like he slows at the end somewhat.

  • A pure bread... A Caribbean thing

  • ... TRUE! ...

  • Rasict.

  • how is that racist..idiot

  • I think if he nodded his head and didn't slow down, he would've gotten better.

  • Hey people!

Does anyone knows how the name of the song at the end of the video is.

This is a Technosong and I know this song, but i don´t know title an interpret.

I would be a cool thing, when anyone can help me, with saying which song this is!!!

  • braaapppppp jamrock r sik

  • loool

Swear he was slowing down o_0

    He can go faster :P

  • definatly!

  • Thats a true Jamaican

  • jamaican english is sexy

  • Rieti is a special track...It is only 400meters of altitude but it feels much more...And there are all the conditions to go fast..Often national records are broken there...

  • their were 3 in the past who could power down the track similar to Powell. Hayes in the 60's, Johnson in the 80's, Greene in the 90's/early2000's. Of these three Hayes technique is the most similar to Powell, low heel recovery to "more visual high knee" and the square 90degree arm-takeback.

  • he said he thought he could during this run but he wanted to save energy for the final that's why he slowed down at the end and he said 9.68

  • Wow, the sprinters who were on top of the world last decade who I liked back then, were incredible to watch. The world record was in the 9.8s.

Now this guy comes in and sets a world record that is faster than any of those guys back then has ever run, by more than a tenth of a second.

  • he slowed down at the end he can go faster.

  • He didn't even look like he was going that fast.

  • Yeah I know it's weird, but the next week in the golden league when re ran 9.84 it looked SOO fast

  • Sick. He's easing at the end! I bet he can do 9,64.
