  • @jumpiewumpie I get what youre saying but I think hes just being silly because that's how a lot of jumpers act. He is ready to go an is having fun, I don't think it's a big deal for his back.

  • I don't say you're wrong 'cause horses do, but the way he uses his back by holding its head like this isn't very good for him (: Think he needs to accept the pressure in his mouth first, and that the rider needs to create a more stable sit. Sorry, can't explain how I want to in English :D PS: I just wanna help, I don't want to offend someone, just wanna help by telling (:

  • That's not cantering... Too bouncy... Just saying...

  • I think i'm in love with this ! lol

  • wow, you have got a real show jumper on your hands! to get more out of the running martingale, but running stops infront of and behing the rings, so it dosen't slip back, thats what i do

  • Tu as vu comment tu tires sur la bouche de ce pauvre cheval ?

  • To all who feel its necessary to critique someone its really not nice and im sure like any rider she knows her horse, knows what she has to do to jump correctly and on the comments of her reins are to short have you ever rode a horse that gets so excited he RUNS for the jump? im sure you havnt or you wouldnt have posted the comments, and as for the martingal we have a horse at our barn who is the exact same way, perfect dressage and high headed for jumping but hes the most reliable horse there.

  • Lcweinstock- yes I know that you have no reason to trust my credibility about owning the pony, but you need to take my word for it. If you have any questions, please comment again and I shall answer them to the best of my ability.

  • The pony is 14.2 and a Welsh-Thoroubred (sorry about the spelling) cross.

  • Horses stick their heads up to see how high to take the jump. It could be that the pony was having some vision problems.. but nah i doubt it will really hurt the pony's back because you'll see horses going over 5ft fences looking like giraffes... well because they have to, or else they won't see the height, and also keeping a horses head down can throw it off balance when landing. This height is pretty big compared to the pony... keeping the head down would interfere. Lovely pony and rider.

  • your reins are too short.

  • Ah I love this pony. I want. haha how many hands is he?

  • Typical Arab :P

  • I own this pony right now. We did work on dressage and when he is not jumping, he does it very well. The reins are short because he loves to run so much that he will take off after the jumps. Bentleyvee, you are wrong, the pony does toss his head just because. He gets really hyped up when he jumps the head toss is a result of that. It's his way of having fun. It is not because her reins are so short either. I would like to see how long you would last on the pony. He won team Pony Finals 3x.

  • Great ride, but i think you should work on your dressage first. Holding his head like this isn't very good for his back... Maybe you should train without martingal and see how that goes? Sorry for my English 'cause I'm not very good at it :D

  • @jumpiewumpie most jumpers do that bcos they are ready to go..

  • The pony's like: yay I'm jumping!!

  • @lightning0105 This pony is like: Damn this bit is so uncomfortable!

  • This is the most adorable thing Ive ever seen.

  • the head tossing is an arab thing they are generally high strung

  • Wow, he looks HOT!

  • Hahaha this reminds me of this Arabian at my barn. She looks just like her! She acts the same way.

  • is this a pony if it is you could win the pony jumpers in pony finals also your a really good rider your like a champ

  • OMGosh!!!! his strides are sooo cutee!!!! there so short but fast and hes like, prancing almost!!!! (insert heart her) adorable! nice riding, btw! :)

  • he's throwing his head because of the martingale he prob not use to it

  • EXCELLENT RIDE!

  • Great job handling that horse around the course! Looked great. I can tell the horse isn't to fond of its martingale.... nice release. Excellent round.

  • I wouldn't jump when my horse hold its head that high

  • @JustTheMoonlight

The horse just wants to goo, he is doing it to say: cmon lemme go! but she is holding him back to keep control.

  • @JustTheMoonlight Well according to the clear round, with not even a rap of the rails, they seem to be doing just fine. A lot of top show jumpers do this. The best horses are the trickiest rides.

  • looks and acts just like my pony! what breed is he?

  • way to make it look easy!

  • who are you talking to?

  • omg! hes adorable! i want him! hes so feisty but u rode him amazingly! hes so cute lol!

  • his head is staright up til he jumps! his ears are forward when jumping he loves it! he just wanted to go way faster!did a great job of holding him back and setting him up!

  • He seems like he really likes to jump!

  • i think she shouldnt have that martinagle on its yanking at his mouth causing him to throw his head!!

  • @hunterjumperqueen23 I don't know, I think the martingale does probably help a little but he looks like he would have a naturally high head carriage anyway. Plus, many horses do this when they showjump. Because their vision is different to ours, they may suddenly throw their head up (or down) so they can better gauge the height of the jump.

  • cute pony

  • my pony used to be a pony jumper and he throws his head up like that.. Thats what pony jumpers do they keep there head in your face..

  • how big is he and also cute what breed

  • Really nice jumper and rider here!

  • Amazin rider! I think she did really good! And the horse too! :D

  • how high were those jumps?

  • how high were those jumps pony has a nice tuck

  • how high were those jumps

  • Oh.......

  • Excellent rider! That pony has a naturally high top line (im guessing arab or something) you can see from the tail but the rider had nice quiet hands and really used her whole body to keep the horse in check. Very little rein contact but still very much in control. Excellent spot to every fence. Overall great performance, and cute pony!

  • hmm hes not responding to the reins at all...could use a shorter martingale I guess? anyone? Nice jumps but I dont like the head bobbing when she calls on him

  • Um where i the Double Jump???

  • @idax4953 i think the horses name is double delight

  • You guys look soooo good together! And your pony is very cute! I love Arabs!

  • That looked so graceful! Gorgeous horse!!

  • awww how many hands high is he

  • He is a arabian, and I have noticed many arabians tend to toss there head no matter what.

  • wow this is TERRIFIC! keep up the good work, u and ur pony are.. WOW! awesomee :)

  • this is one of the best pony jumper rounds ive seen!

  • You and Your pony are doing great! No joke! i mean other people are saying stuff but ur doing great if u had made it this far!

  • You did really good. i love how you didnt react to him throwing his head up in the air at all. you just rode normally.

  • wow, your a really good rider, but fit the horse to a martingale, it will make it some what more graceful :P your 2-point is amazing! i wish i could do that :P

  • Is his canter really smooth? It looked like you weren't even moving! Great job!

  • @Purplejumpergirl

    Its actually a running martingale.

  • Pauvre ti lou ! Il fait tro tro tro pitier avec sa martingale et en plus elle est pendue dans sa bouche ! c'est un maudit bon cheval pour pas deja l'avoir pitcher a terre !

  • Pauvre ti lou !

  • 7 ppl are stupid whats not to like.

  • n'awrh hes a cutieeee:)xx

  • @purplejumpergirl THANK YOU!!!! i hate it when people do that over like cross rails the poor horse has to carry you!

  • i wish i was shorter... my life dream is to do pony jumpers but im 5'7" so im stuck with 17.3 warmbloods for the rest of my life... not like its a bad thing but i luv ponies to death :(

  • @ChandlerismyBF

5'7'' isn't that tall, just saying, I am 5'7'' and I ride a 14 hand pony and fit fine.

  • wow! you and your horse are awesome!

  • i thought it wasn't good for a horse's head to be high, i think it puts a lot of tension into their back.

  • @mshobohorse; what you are saying might be right, but if the horse can't hold his head high he wont be able to the the obstacle. So in order to jump, he needs to raise his head to see properly :) Normally the horse lower his head between the jump, if not the jumps are close ;)

  • the ponys like im telling you man, there was this super huge bird in the sky i just cant find it!lol!jokE! you did very well!

  • he's so beautiful!!!

  • I don't think that martingale is doing very well. :p

  • @HuntrJumprEQ4 its a racing martingale which helps with speed and control no keeping the ponies head down

  • Comment removed

  • @trblmaker11 actually that is a martingale. it is a running martingale. i ride english and i DO know that :)

  • her reins are not too short. and that horse is throwing his head just because. There is slack. and she is not pulling on his mouth over the jumps. I would say she is prolly a better rider than u.

  • @bentleyvee i totally agree, and plus she is holding the horse back to find her distances and for the horses beat.

  • @bentleyvee yeah the horse looks a little high strung. but other wise amazing rider, cute horse, and a winning team

  • @bentleyvee Yes, her reins are way too short. Horses don't toss their head "just because". Do you scream at somebody, insult somebody or freak out "just because"? Horses do everything for a reason. A tight rein is one reason to toss her head.

  • @Popsickle24680 Her reins are fine, this horse is clearly an Arabian or some sort of cross, and they are naturally excitable. Sure, he may have another reason for tossing his head, but I don't see any videos of you to prove your credibility.

  • veeryy excited pony!!!! ,hahaha cute what breed?

  • it looks like he likes 2 jump very cute good ride wat breed is he all arab

  • he looks so funny with his head in the air lol

  • i was there i rode in that class 2 i go 2ndd

  • you have a fantastic seat :)

  • u need to stop pulling on his mouthh but dayum that pony jumpss this like its nothin !

  • He's having fun!!!!!!!!!!:)

  • It amazes me that anyone would give this girl advice. She rode perfectly and nailed every distance.

  • Very nice! just noticed, ur reins r too short...thats why he/she is lifting her/his head up...coz the bit is jaggin on the mouth...well done tho... :)

  • @jjbsportsyo no the reins r perfect u dont no if the horse pony wants 2 go fast and runn like a fruit batt

  • he's not lifting his head up...she is. she's trying to engage the hind end.

  • @horsiegirl97

why would she have a martingale on him if she was trying to lift his head up...

  • @BlackberryMay haha that's a good point I didn't see that :) maybe he just goes that idk a lot of the horses do that too

  • @BlackberryMay because a martingale helps a horse put its head down?

  • I love the way he lifts his head up = soooooo cuteee

  • your pony has exactly the same characters like mine. Did you win anything ? ;)

  • wow..thats one amazing pony!

  • hahahaahah your pony has alot of engry thats awsome

  • You're lucky to have such a great jumping pony that's very cooperative. A little tip that might help you guys is follow through with his head over the jumps, and have nice, light contact with his mouth. Don't slack the reins, but let him have his mouth back. If he's going too fast, just half halt him quitea bit. Hope the best for your future competitions!

  • Wow what a wonderful little jumper

  • Great riding :) But the horse does look stress

  • That ponys head would really piss me off

I look up to you because you just deal wit it! =]

  • I love the music that helps us ride last time they played music i got first and jumped 3.6

  • I love it when they play music at the shows at At my last show they played music and my pony went w/ the music we jumped three six and got 1st.

  • wow yu really need a martingale lol my pony does tht too :) if yu shorten it the pony won't jump nice just leave her as she is :) the ponies head will settle down she just wants to knwo where and what she is doing :)

  • It does have a martingale.

  • yur pony is lovley though! yur a great rider:)

  • great riding btw nice round

  • my horse does this n u can stop it takes time and patience heard or it guys?

  • What a great little rider!

  • Comment removed

  • ya ur right i saw that to

  • i think she just needs to shorten her running martingale about 2"

it should just keep his head down when he puts it up like that

  • standing martingales are prohibited as they dont let the horse reach with it's head and are dangerous over fences. (No matter how many hunters use them)

  • no thats false if it fits correctly its neither dangeros nor does it not let horses reach with thier heads.

  • standing martingales can break a horse's jaw. My friend's pony does EXACTLY the same thing with its head, and there really is almost nothin you can do to stop it. all the power is coming from the body, and there's nothing in ur hands

  • yeah my pony doss the same and i dont ggive him a martingale, but my trainer was like use a stranding martingale but theres no size that fits him because he has an awkward neck..

  • you can have short reins and still not annoy your pony, which is kinda happening here, even though i think shes a really great rider

  • Your reins are WAY WAY WAY to short, lengthen then up, yes he has his head up and yes he is a jumper but give him some rein (= That was the only thing that bothered me as my horse has a u-neck from having the reins to short [along with other crap that the cowboys did to him..] but yeah. Nice round though.

  • Well ridden, not the easiest of rides!! x

  • Hey rrhapsodylover the round was perfectly fine and nice. who cares what the horse looks like it is jumpers not hunters!!!!

  • ok you need to stop making mean coments. the ponys a jumper it does what its wants ok? you have no say in how she rides her own horse ok? i think she rides him so fine ok? so back of! you have no life trying to tell people how to ride there horses! back the fuck of! bye

  • RRhapsodylover is really annoying. If you watch the regular pony division there are the 100,000 dollar ponies that have riders that RIDE and that dont. The ones that RIDE win, the ones that dont get beaten. You can just sit there ESPECIALLY in the 3'6 jumpers on a PONY. and maybe your tlaking about a hunter because yes hunter should have their heads down but jumpers it doesnt matter unless they get around clean, safely, and fast which is clearly being shown here.

  • haha thats funny... and thank you thank you very much for that non critique comment

btw if you look, I never said the ponies were $100,000, more like $50k

  • Oh, hey everyone, I'd just like to reiterate that this video is about a zillion years old. Edie no longer has Teddy and doesn't do the jumpers. She also never asked you all for critiques.

For those of you who have been courteous, thank you, and for those of you who have been rude... [insert phrase of your choice here, but it must include the words "shut" and "up"].

    Peace!

  • Hmmmm have you thought that maybe the pony is just excited. observe his tail plz. it is also stuck up in the air. god just chill out plzzz ! lolz

  • YOU SAID IT! jumper horses (or ponies in this case) should look like an upper level dressage horse because they are INGAGED, not running around with their heads stuck up in the air (unless you want to crash...)

  • Awesome ride :)

It looks like this pony has a naturaly high head set, which is common for lots of horses. But there are some point where the horse throws his/her head really high up. Could the bit be pinching the mouth?

Looks like an awesome mount, you are a great rider:)

  • Wow! she likes to go all right!

  • My pony fights for her head when I ask her too slow down, she's speedy cause she's only 5!

  • Wow,

  • yes exactly! most incredible jumper ponies fight for their heads anyways so its not like its "super uncommon" do your research before you crit :) and it also looks at least part arab so that also has to do something with it :) awesome bg!

  • it doesnt matter if the ponys head is up in the air its a JUMPER. for those of you who dont know it doesnt matter how a pony jumper looks or goes it just matter how fast they go and if they jump the fences. If this pony was a pony HUNTER then it would be a problem. and would you rather have a girl pull on the ponys the mouth or get in completely wrong to a high jump and crash. yeah dont voice your opinions unless you know what your tlaking about.

  • do you see professional riders with their horses heads stuck up in the air? NO! the horses are rounded around the corners (IF the rider is correct) and ingaged. yeah, they may toss their heads every once in a while. TRUE jumpers have beautiful flatwork in the ring with a couple of jumps strewn over the place, but they don't run around with their heads stuck in the air. that will cost them dearly...yeah dont voice your opinions unless you know what your tlaking about

  • umm...yeah, you need to shut up now. Your comments are very irritating. My now retired jumper used to get so excited that he would constantly throw his head. He was great for flat work, but he loved to jump so much that he couldn't wait to get to the next jump. He had to ability to jump much higher than what we showed at and only pulled down 3 rails in 2 years (my fault, not his). I would kill to own another horse like him, head tossing and all. Keep in mind that this is JUMPERS, NOT HUNTERS!!!!

  • HA!

you don't get it, do you?

horses have to be ingaged to be able to jump correctly. if their heads are stuck up in the air they are hollowed. you try running around with your head stuck up in the air for a long period of time with something on your back.

it's the fault of the rider.

oh yes, did your trainer train with Jack Le Goff, Michael Page, David and Karen 'O conner, and the top trainer from Germany?

'cause mine did, and they alll say that horses have to be ingaged in order to jump.

  • My trainer nearly went to the Olympics in the early 70's. She is probably the best trainer in my state and I wouldn't want any other. BTW, my horse tossed his head before the jump, AND NOT OVER IT!!!!!!! He was rounded and tucked high with his knees. And like I said, he was great for flatwork (always on the bit). He just loved to jump so much that he could barely control his excitement (hence the head tossing because of me checking him back). So shut up and drop the arguement. Grow up.

  • wow.

it's sad what is put in front of the classical riding system.

that's why people are getting hurt.

    and horses.

checking back with you're hands??? are you serious????

it's called seat, and until you know how to use that you're not riding correctly.

    end of argument.

  • you are so irritating!!!!! Of course I use my body also! But I'm only 115 lbs and my horse is 1200 lbs. Trying to stop him sometimes is like trying to stop a train. I could take off my saddle and bridle and do 2nd level dressage without a problem. GOT IT?!?!?!?! Btw, you probably only start these stupid arguments because you think you're better than everyone and probably have no friends.... how sad for you.....

  • I start these conversations because I KNOW what's right but you people don't!

YOU guys get all worked up because you can't take a little truth.

wow. this was a waste of my breath because NOBODY will support correct riding anymore....it's all about money, winning, and money again (nowadays)

    sad....

  • @RRhapsodylover IT DOSEN'T MATTER SHES A JUMPER ALL IT MATTERS IS IF YOU CAN GET OVER THE JUMPS AND TO NOT KNOCK THEM DOWN.

  • @fbannie17 okay so the comments that I wrote a couple years ago weren't too clear. Let me refrase them: In order to safely jump, a horse must be ingaged, meaning the hindquarters are under the horse and he isn't strung out and/or flipping out before every fence. This doesn't mean the horse has to be "on the bit" but he just has to have engagement. This horse totally lacks engagement, and the result is that he is strung out and not jumping safely at all. Not only that, but he is not happy at all!

  • she have very smooth and calm hands. the pony looks like it have much arab blood, so i guess hes a little hyper :) she IS releasing over the jumps! sorry for my bad english

  • she isn't pulling in his mouth.

She's holding him so he doesn't run at the jumps, if she didn't do this, the pony would get the wrong number of strides and either of them could get hurt badly.

  • her hand smove forward over the jump which is her releasing.

i know a lot of horses/ponies that do the same thing that pony is doing with his head. you can tell he's really like hyper as well.

  • she doesn't even release over the jumps

    omg look at that!

  • um wtf

    yes she does...

  • she accauly is releasing but she does pull back a little early on the landing

  • get out of his mouth!

  • i LOVE that pony! he jumps amazingly. you ride him very well :)

  • Wow good job! HE looks like a blast to ride.

  • not a perfect couple xp

  • well, the rider keepspulling on the ponies mouth and pulling back and the pony would be able to go higher and jump it better if she wasn't constantly in her mouth. The rider would be able to feel more comfortable going over when the pony goes over. The pony would only feel comfortable with the rider not always pulling back.

  • that is an adorable pony!!

  • Comment removed

  • These are higher jumps, and it's not like this is a horse. A pony is obvisouly a lot lower to the ground than a horse would be jumping these taller jumps. The only reason his head is up is because the pony is analyzing the size of the jump, how much he needs to jump, etc...

  • Comment removed

  • Like, you see how it's tail is up? Because it's tail is connected to it's spine, the downward arc forces it's tail up. (Unless it's an arabian...then never mind)!

  • I mean, it is ok if the horse holds it's head up so high like that. But how's it's back??? When a horse holds it's head up high like that, it's back arches or curved downward. When a horse puts it's head down, like in pleasure or in HUS, It's back arches upward, thus making a stronger back. (Correct me if im wrong)! lol! But awesome riding though!!!

  • That pony needs work on its headset.. Major work. Nice riding though!

  • this girl has amazing equitation for a jumper.

  • Random question- I'm getting my 'pony' carded soon. She is 14.2 1/2- can she get carded because she's under 14.3 which is a pony, right? We might just take off her shoes for getting carded.. BTW nice riding and pony!

  • But she's over 14.2 by 1/2. My question is as long as she's under 14.3, shes a pony?

  • No.

14.2 and under. Not a cm over.

    14.2-1/2 is a horse.

  • the rider is amazing , although the horse holds it head very high the rider ignores it and jumps an amazing round

this horse is stuning and had an amazing jump

    xxx

  • Comment removed

  • I dosnt mater if it holds its head high if it jumps something my trainer has taught me and is very true is the fact that as much as you should turn your poony out well for riding if a pony jumps a clear round it dosnt matter as people will be impressed

  • Tying a horse's head down doesn't solve the problem, whatever it is that is causing the high head. It's also dangerous to restrict head and neck motion on a jumping horse.

  • but when the horse sticks his head up it's just as bad as a horses head being tied down.

  • that is a really good rider!
