@czarinagarcia4 a cut off tail is called "Docking the tail". It was done because the tail interfered originally with the dogs job. Rottweilers are working dogs, and it would get in the way of the wagon pulling, or guarding. So they cut off the tail, when the pup is real young. It is now illegal to dock a tail of a dog (and crop the ears I think) in Europe. My Rottweiler has a docked tail, in America.

@smokekindherb Actually in a lot of Europe they are making it illegal to dock the tail or clip the ears of rottys and dobies unless they are going to be used as registered guard dogs. My Rotty's tail was docked when I got her, but if I had the choice I wouldn't have let it happen. It's not necessary anymore unless you are using them as a 100% guard dog. Amazing breed though, it's a shame they'll end up on the BSL eventually because of all the idiots who train them to be ferocious.

Mostly genitics, if you got a pure line then a male will be around 110-125 larger then that usually means they are mixed and can lead to more wear on the hips which Rottie's are prone to.... Also don't be afraid to treat them with raw meat sometimes... A thawed chicken breast is like ice cream or a candy bar...
