I'm buying a kifaru zulu. It'll be here sometime. I like that you make stuff yourself. I now carry a handmade japanese sake bottle that I made also. I have no sake. I am sixteen. But I have other stuff.
@colorinthemoon hehe, that is awesome. Yeah, I love tinkering and making gear. Youtube has been a huge source of DIY info. A whole new world opens up when you realize that you can make just about anything.
@ARMYCADET97 I'd disagree. Kifaru is expensive. It is also very well made. Could you use a much less expensive pack? Yes, I used mil surp for up until I bought my EMR. I bought kifaru because I wanted kifaru, not because I thought it was the only thing that would work.
@nwmanitou Wanted to add that sometimes I'm embarrassed by how much I paid for my pack. I don't want people to get the wrong idea. I saved up for a long time to get it. It was really an extravagant present to myself. It's nice to have something fancy once in a while.
@nwmanitou very true yes but i meen like some ppl are like "ohh yeah im getting a kifaru i can barely aford but its the best thing i cant live without it...but i meen if u have the money and u like their products than yes why not get it.
@cdipaolo1996 I'm not entirely sure. I bought it years ago at a mil surplus store for about $30. There are no tags or markings on it that I could find, though I vaguely remember it may be a truspec poncho. It feels like it's made from 1.9oz ripstop coated nylon. My only complaint is that the hood and neck hole are a little bit small for me, but then again, I'm a big fat guy.
Excellent video and kit. The practicality and usefulness of a kit is vital. Every backpacker and survivalist needs to actually go out and test their gear and equipment. You have done a good job at evaluating and testing what you carry. Keep up the good work.
I like comment from 03:00 to 03:55 how true!! There are companies and people out there that think if its( black its tactical ) or (O.D. its survival) when in fact its marketing JUNK!! Couldnt agree with you more on that, people need to practice the craft of survival not just BUY into it!! Also camoflage falls into both of these categories! TRY to stay away from cheap imported junk it could end up killing you!!
@ppspsd I'd always recommend time and experience over expensive or hyped gear. Often people will buy gear that far outclasses their skillset. They'd get much more utility from something affordable and transitional. Spend some times in the woods until you have the skills to truly utilize what that high dollar piece of kit can offer.
@StrikeHoldInfantryTr I picked the headnet up at REI a while back. They no longer carry that particular headnet anymore. check out bepreparedtosurvive dottcom to find one that is similar. It's under the protection menu.
@PBTvids Yup, I enjoy the show. Though I feel it's starting resemble a Bear Grylls show.
There is much I could do without in my survival kit depending on where I was and the time of year. But I'm mitigating risk with these items. Sure I could build a natural shelter, but my poncho takes a few minutes to set up instead. And in an emergency those few minutes could save a life. Know your limits. Plenty of "experts' die in the field from over confidence and reckless behavior.
@0122358 Thanks for the compliment. One dry hike was enough for me. I carry a filter, or at the very least, chemical purification on every outing, even if I'm just doing a scenic drive. Granted if it were a real survival situation without a filter or chems I'd drink the water and let the doctor fix my guts when I get back.
@0122358 picked it up on amazon. They sell a full system including the dirty and clean water bags. Though i was too cheap to buy the whole thing until I had tested out the filter by itself, hence the redneck rig. Do a search for Sawyer Water filters to find out more about them.
Great set of videos. Very compact and purposeful.

What brand is the poncho you have? It looks lighter than the GI one I have.
