I have a german shepherd that looks just like her and he acts the same way with the head tilting when i talk to him. I want to get another and i am going to get a girl. @micers ...actually, the yawn is a calming sign. They want to make sure you are not mad at what they are doing. All dogs do this when you stare at them for an extended period of time. To make them feel reassured you just yawn back at them or turn your head away for a moment. I learned this from 30 years of having german shepherds.

She plays w/me all the time, grabbing my wrist, doing the i'll bit your mouth you bite mine thing, nipping at my chin-pawing at me. We play chase in the backyard, she loves running. She never bites hard at me, but i don't know how to get her to understand that she isn't 'equal' to me in the rank structure-she plays kind of rough sometimes-got any ideas?? if its not to much trouble what type of German shepherd is she. example :Working dog, american or german show dog with that sloped back, is she a english blood line german shepherd, czech blood line. the reason i asked is that is one pretty dog i want to get one that looks kinda like her, her looks are one of a kind.

She is beautiful. I really do love this breed. I have an almost all black german shepherd. He has a small patch of white on his chest and a bit on his paws. He does this all the time. When me and my husband sleep he jumps up and sleeps on the pillows above his head and his head on my husband's shoulder. It's funny and cute. I should take videos soon.

@scmang3 ...I have had german shepherds my whole life. If you choose to get one make sure you adopt from a rescue. There are german shepherd rescue groups just about everywhere with fantastic dogs available for adoption.
