When I had graphic arts class as a high school freshman in the late 70s, I made a silk screen T-shirt with the Jolly Roger from the Crimson Pirate. The skull with the dagger through his eye is the greatest Jolly Roger of all time.

This movie had the ultimate combination of what makes a Pirate Movie fun. Great cast, great pirate talk, great music, awesome and unrelenting action and layer upon layer of double crosses.

I don't know. Burt Lancaster is a bit too cocky here. I also expected a little more swordplay. Considering Burt was an accomplished circus performer, this could have been better. To me , the best scene is when they do a backwards somersault to hide their presence. Too bad they couldn't hide the movie.

Burt did some really difficult stuff in this film and they were his own stunts. He did not use a stuntman. I love the movie, by the way!
