This means that they deviate from ye olde english quite a bit, in syntax and slang, making the 'overseas' english more grammatically accurate, expressive and comprehensive.

I'm Eurasian and I agree with you, I don't think Eurasians should get special treatment and get ranked higher than others just because they're Eurasian. To be a VJ (and other media jobs) the talent and the appeal of the individual should be the highest priority. And I think there are lots and lots of good looking and talented Asians, there could at least be a good balance between Asian and Eurasian VJs.

Canadians, along with other white descendants of colonizers, originate from Europe. Australians are regarded as Australians, but the majority are of British blood and so on and so forth.
The place of origin where a certain race developed is generally used as the indicator of the descendants of that race, regardless of how long they've lived in another continent. DESCENT is the key word.
A Vietnamese person born in the US is of Asian descent. A Chinese person living in Scotland is of Asian descent. An Australian whose ancestry originated in Europe is of European descent. A black Jamaican is considered of African descent.
The same applies to Eurasians. Mix of two descents.
You have to look at where Australians historically originated from: Europe.

They hire tv hosts according to what would appeal to the majority of the intended audience. as for accents, They like to chose american/british/australian/canadian accents because asian english accents are heavily influenced by a creole, or pidgin english, bourne of busy colonial ports. This means that they deviate from ye olde english quite a bit, in syntax and slang, making the 'overseas' english more grammatically accurate, expressive and comprehensive.

I'm Eurasian and I agree with you, I don't think Eurasians should get special treatment and get ranked higher than others just because they're Eurasian. To be a VJ (and other media jobs) the talent and the appeal of the individual should be the highest priority. And I think there are lots and lots of good looking and talented Asians, there could at least be a good balance between Asian and Eurasian VJs.

No, it didn't--because you can still be a local and be Eurasian--I'm a local of a Japan (born and raised)--if I go on TV representing Japan, you're saying it would be sad because both of my parents aren't locals there. Even if I knew more of my homeland than a full-blooded local, my face only reminds everyone of the fact that i'm media-friendly, nothing more. There's more depth in casting Eurasian roles than that. I think you automatically assumed that all Eurasians on MTV don't know about Asia.

Please listen to Singapore Minister George Yeo's comments at the Eurasian House this past August. Even though he's not a Eurasian, he's a real friend to the Eurasian community and understands that Eurasians have been discriminated against from many directions over the years. Additionally, please take some time to reflect on your own motivations. If you're bitter and filled with hatred toward Eurasians to the point that you're willing to post a video about, what does that say about you?

Do you know about her education as preparation for the job for which she's been hired? Eurasian refers to someone who's of mixed Asian and European blood, regardless of what country they're from.
Canadians, along with other white descendants of colonizers, originate from Europe. Australians are regarded as Australians, but the majority are of British blood and so on and so forth.

The place of origin where a certain race developed is generally used as the indicator of the descendants of that race, regardless of how long they've lived in another continent. DESCENT is the key word.
A Vietnamese person born in the US is of Asian descent. A Chinese person living in Scotland is of Asian descent. An Australian whose ancestry originated in Europe is of European descent. A black Jamaican is considered of African descent.
The same applies to Eurasians. Mix of two descents.

You have to look at where Australians historically originated from: Europe.
Australia used to be a British penal colony centuries ago. A white Aussie's nationality is Australian, but his/her genetic origins are from Europe.
This is why a Japanese, Korean, or Chinese are regarded as Asian. When talking about race, it's all dependent on genetic origins, rather than nationality.
A black Jamaican is Jamaican (nationality) but of African descent (ancestors from Africa). Etc...

simply put, it has been scientifically proven that mixed race people have traits that are desireable to both the races they come from and thus appeal to more viewers
not only that but mixed race people are healthier too and less likely to inherit genetic diseases and ailments because the their diverse genetic origins.

fludbud, it hasn't been scientifically proven..they've done a few social studies on the matter..that's about it..but to say SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN IS BULLSHIT...please learn what scientifically proven really means..as you would see, VERY FEW THINGS are scientifically proven.

Well, I agree on MTV, but not on the asian news channels (e.g. channel news asia) where you definately can find lotsa asian with good english are not bad looks. BTW, you shouldnt blame eurasians, TV wants some ppl who can speak good english, even though there are some asians, but the fact is, a minority of asians speak good english with clear and correct pronounciation and that's important. I just think you shouldnt blame all eurasians for being eurasians blame the ppl from the TV channels.

Man, I am eurasian ok, and I dun think they always have priviledges. I live in europe & was born here and I dun have any priviledges, nor do I have British accent. Ppl in Asia treat me same, ppl in Europe treat me same.
Maybe you're just disappointed they din pick you??! That might have other reasons than not being Eurasian.
Seriously, what do you have against eurasians?! Even some asians speak pretty good English and are good looking, man watch TV before you judge. BETTER, DUN JUDGE AT ALL!
