Have purchased two SH124, one has died within month. The idea to have combined killswitch and volume pot as single part is great, but components used in this device SUCKS!(( Looks like Shadow saves money on it. Besides, it clicks too loud.

Found another model on ebay, definitely not a Shadow, perhaps guy is making it by himself (fixit-ez), though engineered better than SH124: the pot is "white", switch works totally noiseless, long solder lugs, full-metal case etc. Liked it much more!

does this pot match most of the 'heads' or how to call these.. or do you need those specific round wide gibson heads/knobs?

It is annoying that using the Killpot to kill the sound can easily change your setting on that knob, but you get used to how precise it has to be done.

Also, it's nice to be able to kill the sound and instantly roll the volume down to 0 when you want it to remain silent. Plus using kinda makes ya look like you can do something really tricky with what looks like a normal volume knob.

these things are made with cheap crappy pots and don't taper well.

if you turn it to 0 and try to turn it up for a slight crunch sound if your using the lead gain channel it wont do it :(

@Gaza880 Nope, Active pickups(EMG's in your case) rely on a 25k pot to do the job. A 500k won't cut it.

1st: if you put this in place of a neck volume on les paul styled setup would it only work on the neck pup or with both neck and bridge?

2nd does this work on an active pup and would it matter that my 2nd guitar has an active bridge but a passive neck?

If u got a les paul the just turn the volume down on one of the humbuckers and use the switch

The switch on a Les Paul just isn't engineered to withstand continuous killing like that, it's a quick way to a broken switch. The Kill Pot is designed killing, a switch is designed for switching ;-)

Well, i have had a little problem with mine. The switch suddenly changed, so that when i have it upwards it selects the bridge pickup and downwards it selects the neck.

Your toggle switch has spun around in it's socket, so that it is now reversed. Loosen the nut and turn it back ;-)

Sorry rob, but 1 thing isn't quite clear for me - by installing this into one of the pots, can you still use that pot for its original purpose? As in if you put it in a tone pot, can you turn it to turn the treble down? Or soes it only work as a killswitch? I've wanted a killswitch for years as tom morello is one of my all time heros, but because using tone and volume pots is part of my technique I cant really sacrifice them.... please help me!!!

You're right, it's quite a sweet tool. But, now they're bringing in a cut switch just made for guitar that's about £20?

I've got one on my crappy guitar which is just a push button switch which I got from a electrician shop for less than £5.

But I guess that not having to remove one of your tone pots is a bonus so I can see why they bump up the price.

shoved my tone pot into the control cavity, took two pieces of wire and a normally open SPST momentary switch from radio shack and wired it up to the output jack on my guitar. There are two places to wire it to (though each output jack may not be the same): the clip that holds the cable inside (the ground) and a bit of metal somewhere else I can't remember. look it up if you need to.
