Auto insurance is not comparable to health insurance. With health insurance the only victim is the owner of the policy. With auto insurance the victim is the person who was hit by the person at fault. the two examples are NOT Comparable in no shape or form.

You forget that all people want is to stick to the original Constitution. Schools, public works, and police are all (should all) be locally funded. There's no mandate in the Constitution for public works from the Federal government. But there is for national security and defense.
Perhaps you were eluding to this, but in regards to auto insurance, it is ONLY mandated for damage to OTHER individuals and property. You don't need to get full coverage. If you don't want to get car insurance, don't drive a car. But nowhere does the government mandate that you need to purchase something you don't want. It's an agreement between you and the states for using the public roads and highways, that you shall provide insurance, or have enough in savings to cover damages.
By agreeing to the contract of using public roads, you also agree to an ability for paying for any damage you might cause. If you don't agree with this contract, you cannot drive your vehicle on public roads.
Read the contract you signed when you got your driver's license. It clearly says, in most if not all states, that you must have either basic auto insurance of a certain coverage, or a cash amount set aside that will pay for any damage you might cause.
This isn't socialism, it's simply cooperative resources, similar to a Sam's Club offering bulk for less price.
If everyone bought a seperate plan, it would be more expensive. Socialism is manditory taking by force the product of one person's labor, and giving it to those that someone deems more worthy. When you sign up for insurance, you have a contract with the provider, and if they fail to compensate per their contract terms, they are in breach. What happens if the Government breaches?

1. Lower the state barriers will cause a "race to the bottom" of the care insurance regulation. See the effect on credit card reg. To have multi state, or nation wide insurance without cause this there would need to be federal regulations.
2. Employer-based insurance isn't really forced though employer are stater to feel it, but I do agree that it would be better without, as long as everyone could get health care in all cases.
3. Stop subsidizing government insurance programs; so the poor who can't afford health insurance should simply get sick and die?
4. Tort reform - This can make sense if it is done correctly. The problem is not large, legitimate, lawsuits, its all the small, unreasonable one. Some dies, the doc gets sued even though he did nothing wrong, if the sue wins is costs 5M, they know the lawsuit has a 5% chance, so they get for 200k.
Tort reform cont - If you cap it to 1M, the same thing happens with the crap cases, but the real cases where a doctors unreasonable mistake kills or injures someone does not get what they should get. This has been shown in states with tort reform. Instead of a tort cap, I would suggest a tort review board where cases that have no medical reason get thrown out without going to court. Note, the bar would be set very low, for cases to go to court, but the worse would be dropped.

In the short-term it will cost more, but in the long term it will cost less compared with what healthcare costs now, and that lower cost will mean greater financial freedom. Read any economics text on healthcare and you'll see that this is one of the few issues for which government action like Obama is taking provides greater freedom, not less.

The "small business" tax also is for individuals making $280,000+ a year. The vast majority of small-business owners dont make enough to be affected.

Actually, that isn't true at all. The vast majority of small business owners wouldn't be doing very well if they made less than $280,000. Say a company with 20 employees wants to hire more, they'll need a surplus in order to offset the risk involved with hiring the wrong person.
On top of this, the $280,000 number that Obama loved to talk about, yet if you add up all of the extra fees, taxes, restrictions and regulations, then people who make as low as $20k are going to be effected.

Auto insurance is not comparable to health insurance. With health insurance the only victim is the owner of the policy. That's exactly correct. I had two cars in 1989 before the mandatory law came to effect. I was paying $400 a year for full coverage ob both cars. After the mandatory law came to place it skyrocketed to over $650, then went to $720. It became unaffordable and I was forced to sell off one of the cars. so yes you made a good point.

Perhaps you were eluding to this, but in regards to auto insurance, it is ONLY mandated for damage to OTHER individuals and property. You don't need to get full coverage. If you don't want to get car insurance, don't drive a car. But nowhere does the government mandate that you need to purchase something you don't want. It's an agreement between you and the states for using the public roads and highways, that you shall provide insurance, or have enough in savings to cover damages.

By agreeing to the contract of using public roads, you also agree to an ability for paying for any damage you might cause. If you don't agree with this contract, you cannot drive your vehicle on public roads.
Read the contract you signed when you got your driver's license. It clearly says, in most if not all states, that you must have either basic auto insurance of a certain coverage, or a cash amount set aside that will pay for any damage you might cause.

If everyone bought a seperate plan, it would be more expensive. Socialism is manditory taking by force the product of one person's labor, and giving it to those that someone deems more worthy. When you sign up for insurance, you have a contract with the provider, and if they fail to compensate per their contract terms, they are in breach. What happens if the Government breaches?

Each of these have problems, but some could help;
1. Lower the state barriers will cause a "race to the bottom" of the care insurance regulation. See the effect on credit card reg. To have multi state, or nation wide insurance without cause this there would need to be federal regulations.
2. Employer-based insurance isn't really forced though employer are stater to feel it, but I do agree that it would be better without, as long as everyone could get health care in all cases.

4. Tort reform - This can make sense if it is done correctly. The problem is not large, legitimate, lawsuits, its all the small, unreasonable one. Some dies, the doc gets sued even though he did nothing wrong, if the sue wins is costs 5M, they know the lawsuit has a 5% chance, so they get for 200k.

Tort reform cont - If you cap it to 1M, the same thing happens with the crap cases, but the real cases where a doctors unreasonable mistake kills or injures someone does not get what they should get. This has been shown in states with tort reform. Instead of a tort cap, I would suggest a tort review board where cases that have no medical reason get thrown out without going to court. Note, the bar would be set very low, for cases to go to court, but the worse would be dropped.

How is the current shake-my-company-down-for-insurance dollars not a tax? Without the 800$/mo they pay for my healthcare, I could afford more taxes. I ran the numbers: My taxes could go from 33% to 46% and I would break even. I also wouldn't be paying for Aetna CEOs to golf all fucking day and rake in 1000s of dollars per minute.
Countries with socialised medicine don't even have taxes that high. The Swedes barely pay more than we do, and they get so much more. Stop being fearful!

This ad is just that, an ad, and it makes a mockery of the healthcare debate. It doesn't matter if Obama's plan is called a tax or something else. In the short-term it will cost more, but in the long term it will cost less compared with what healthcare costs now, and that lower cost will mean greater financial freedom. Read any economics text on healthcare and you'll see that this is one of the few issues for which government action like Obama is taking provides greater freedom, not less.

What polls are you looking at? Rassmussen and Gallup both have double digit leads for those opposing the public option. The dems have done such a poor job of convincing the American Public that this crap is needed that it will not be likely to pass. The reason that they can't sell it or pass it is that we do not need another bloated, corrupt, poorly run, defrauded, unneccesary, BANKRUPT, big government agency. I live in Central Ohio and I attend The Ohio State University as a Graduate Student in the Political Sciences. During my time doing research with a PHD Prof. I conducted a poll in which people who align themselves with the RNC were asked if they knew what it meant when someone called another person a Socialist. I sampled 6 suburbs and 3 towns, going door to door. People were surprisingly enthusiastic to give their response. The result (nothing skewed): 7/10 Rep. Ohioans did not know.
