ok, i wanna know a few things, does the bulb it uses like a regular silvania or w/e. and how much to repare the motors in the lights if they go bad with old age
@s13240sxkade91 Hahahhh what? Silvavia, really dude? It uses High Intensity Discharge (LED soft of lights).pfft to repair that costs an absolute shit ton of money. the motors a reliable abut the lights and the control unit (CPU) to control the lights fail pretty often. it costs a fortune to repair because its delicate and time consuming work plus the cost of parts.
I have probably have own more MB then the average 27 year old..Even though it is a POS car, its all about status. I rather have a Benz for 2-3 years than a Honda for 10 years. I would be embarrassed to go anywhere in a Honda, Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, or Saturn. More recently I have had my eye on a 911 carrera. Driving a benz is just to prove you have money and you can afford the car, insurance, $130.00 oil changes, and $800 tires.
@NoeLee83 I understand the expensive maintainance but what are the oil change intervals and how often are the tires replaced for the Merc and the Honda? I don't know about you but I do notice there are as many 13 year old Benzes as there a 13 year old Hondas, which are produced in bigger volumes, on the road, at least in the Los Angeles area.
Mercedes headlights are crap! They have a very narrow beampattern. Their highbeams are good, but the E55 bixenon projectors they use such.
Compare them to Acura TL or Lexus cars, or HondaS2000 or even Mazdas, and they'll be beaten.
Don't get me wrong, I love german cars, I'm mostly a fan of Volkswagen though, Mercs are too expensive for what you get, in my opinion - but their headlights suck...
They may have a narrow beam when put into a stationary light, but this adaptive lighting system is throwing the light exactly where you need it. The reason the other cars projector headlights are so wide, is because they don't move the light where you need it. These are meant to put the light exactly where you need it, without blinding or dazzling other vehicles on the road.
Mercedes xenon headlamps have always sucked, also before this system, so that's not at all the reason. The cars I mention, minus the S2000 (old car) all have AFS (turning headlamps)
Put light where you need it? What if you're driving on a dark country road and a deer comes running? Will the car detect this and shine the light where you need it? No. Thats when you appreciate *proper* headlamps, instead of *just* compensating technology.
DONT BE JELOUS BECAUSE U DONT HAVE ONE HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
and they are like that because they are sport and luxury cars when you race you use those for your spot where you are going to race or lane sorry about my wording. they are good cars i own 4 mercedes and ive never had a problem
1) You're 19 years old, try to act like you're more than 12.
2) I'm not jealous, I think people are idiotic when they buy a car older than themselves, just to be able to afford a brand.
3) Race?? In a (non-SLR) Mercedes? Don't make me laugh please.
4) I never argued that they are poor cars, but I'm saying that they claim to build the best cars ever - in that case they need to improve alot, as they are beaten hands down by cheap japaneese cars (that I would also never own)
You cannot compare two totally different brands. Ok, Opel and Infiniti has the intelligent light system but Mercedes had it since a lot of years ago & I have a Opel Corsa B. I love my car but I accept that the MB cars are very better than Nissan or GM cars. I can see that you dont drive a E-Class or another Mercedes-Benz bro.

i thing VW's new dynamic light assist (DLA) is far more impressive and "intelligent"
u just put the high beam, and when a car approaches the beam is turning away from the car on its own.
search it in youtube, i was really impressed when i read the new tuareg test and learned about this system
dimos47ki7 1 year ago
@dimos47ki7 Mercedes also has this, and it goes by the name of adaptive high beam assist.
