harry potter is childrens make believe. quiddich is a made up game with magic.

when you have adults running around with broomsticks, capes, and one dude in a yellow speedo with tennis balls hanging from his ass its the ultimate embodiment of geeky childhood behavior. you are an embarrassment to yourselves, your friends and your relatives. theres a difference between having fun, and making an ass of yourself in public.

It is stupid because the ONLY point of this game is not to get a beating, stay under a difference of 140 or less and be the first to get the snitch. You're winning by 140 points, the opposite team gets the snitch, you lose; you're losing by 160 points, you get the snitch, you lose. What's the point of scoring goals? This is no more than a variation of handball, but instead of a goal you've got those rings, that's all. Substitute the broomstick for a stick-basket and you'll be playing lacrosse.

quidditch is bullshit. the seeker game renders the quaffle game completely obsolete. when krum caught the snitch with his team trailing by 160 that was just retarded, why not fend off the irish seeker just until bulgaria pulled to within 140? rowling demonstrated she knows nothing about sports with the creation of this ridiculous game.

but he still has a point, the game played fictionally with magic broomsticks etc. is tedious and doesn't work on a competitive level as the rules make no real sense. When played like this it is beyond pointless and is less than a poor parody of an actual sport.

the game does make sense the points you get from the quaffle game are used to win the cup and the seeker game is to win the match and so they get rewards for most points and most won games

cumulative points decides the hogwarts quidditch cup, yes. rowling brought in that rule in book 3 when she realized the snitch flaw. but as far as anyone knows it does not affect the quidditch world cup. which is stupid.

why would she write in krum catching the snitch with his team down by 160? wouldn't the strategy at this point be to try to mislead the other seeker? or how about for the seeker playing as a chaser until the team pulls to within 140, an essential powerplay effect. of course it's a risk manouever, but wen you need points why not? it's like pulling the goalie in hockey to get an extra attackers, if it was real sports minds working on the game instead of stupid jk this rule might be considered.
