They got 1 thing wrong that I noticed with the In Utero tour mustangs, the springs in the tailpiece were removed and the tailpiece itself was flipped while the copies don't have that mod. I was in the process of making a personal copy before I found out they were making these . Also the "Teen Spirit" Mustang had stock pickups and had a matching Lake Placid Blue headstock. Still this is nice and I need a damn job so I can get these lol.
Would this guitar be suited for blues aswell (John mayer Trio, SRV, some Hendrix etc)? As a lefty i do not have much choice so its between a regular AM strat or one of these babies, I like the look of these a lot more...Please answer if you have any insight on this! =)
Kurt's Lakr Placid Blie mustang that he used in the Smells Like Teen Spirit video had a matching headstock. What the hell Fender? You can't even honor him with an American model!?!? You did the same with the Jag-Stang'nn. To be fair, the Jag-Stang'nn was Japanese and Kurt did use Japanese strays to smash at the end of the show, but his Jag-Stang'nn was made in the Fender custom shop AND he was unhappy with his and was going to change some things. Seriously!!!
@gnrboy I did the necessary mods myself ( just the humbucker in the bridge) and it cost over this price. The original guitar was $1200 plus shipping plus 200 for the mod so if you' re trying to decide between the signature or customizing yourself I personally would choose this one.
@gnrboy The normal Mustangs are just $50 cheaper. Good luck buying a Seymour JB, routing the body, cutting out a new pickguard, modifying the controls and the wiring for under that.
fucking sooo overpriced hahaha. sooo over priced. Ive got a jagstang i got back in 2004 for £400. and oh wait this is £800 almost??? fender come on seriously...
I feel that anyone who buys this guitar or the signature jaguar is sorta missing the point of why Kurt played Mustangs/Jaguars. They were really cheap in the 80s thus were affordable to poor musicians. Do you really think Kurt would of played a Jaguar or a Mustang if they were going for around 1k in 1990?
It pisses me off when I come on here and see people talking all kinds of shit about certain videos...look be mature and if your just gonna come on here and bitch about a certain video then don't leave a comment...fact of the matter is everyone has an opinion it might be different than everybody else's but that don't mean it's wrong or right...put your opinion without being a jackass and leave it at that...grow up and stop getting in YouTube fights
@ricardomelvipk mustangs are a million times nicer or jaguars Kurt Cobain said he preferred the mustang and jaguar over the jagstang so it's obvious witch guitars he'd rather have a signature model after him
I bet all you dislikers are little 13-25yr olds who missed the boat and weren't there when nirvana came about. They changed music forever. Keep listening to your electronic emo crap kids.
@NirvanaRx3 totally agree man... now there like OUUU i need 7 to 8 string guitars and chung all day long.. hey mate play some nice chords < i cant all i know is chugging.... gonna order this guitar
@NirvanaRx3 that in itself is a stereotype. i love nirvana, favorite band, has been for years, also my biggest musical inspiration. and thanks to my minimum wage job, i almost have enough for this :) im 16 btw. but yeah, emo music sucks
@NirvanaRx3 That's a bit of a misinterpretation. I'm 13, I think many other teenagers like Nirvana but I agree on the point that alot of teens now listen to electronic crap
@themodernguitarist i agree. I wish these companies would realize that if they make the guitars low enough for kids' parents to buy them (that's where the money is!) then they would get a lot more guitars out the door.
Fender actually knows that. They have the Modern Player series, MIM Standards, and Squier guitars. Fender also has the lower-end Jackson and Gretsch guitars.
@themodernguitarist good point. But I remember being that young and having the parent buy you that new guitar, but then you see one of your heroes get a new signature model and it makes you feel like yours is a lesser guitar. But it's all good
At this point, I'm not surprised at how far Fender will go these days to make their money. Leo was a penny-pinching hard ass, that, granted, stole 50% of his designs from Bigsby, and made guitars what they are today: accessible- for better or worse- but everyone who's owned Fender since he sold it has done nothing new, nothing innovative, and nothing that the buyer wants. Overpriced, overrated commercial icon. Every guitarists has been told at least once to "play a real guitar, like a Fender."
@Socioistic Good points, that's the only post i've seen on this vid that makes sense and isn't douchbaggery internet tough guy arguing over moot points.
@joe29786 BECAUSE IT'S NOT A GIBSON!! FUCK! THE JAZZMASTER ISN'T ALSO CALLED A P-90 PICKUPS. IT'S FOR GIBSON. LEARN IT ALREADY! FOR THE LOVE OF YOUR D***!
@z3r0sh1ft well you see, Gibson doesn't own the patents to either of those, while the Jazz Master's pickups aren't P-90s, theyre just specially designed single coils, they could be if they wanted to put them in. tune-o-matic is just a style of bridge, not a Gibson product.
@hillbillygenius72 ..Okay I wonder if any of those are true. But it clearly doesn't look like a Gibson. And it's called Adjusto-matic Bridge. They're called differently but they were sometimes called what they were not supposed to be called. And if ever, Fender would NOT put p-90. It's should be the owner.
@z3r0sh1ft Fender P-90 telecaster, look it up. the patents have either expried, or they were never applied for, I've taken courses in invention and product life cycle management, even if you owned the original patents for something, they can expire after a certain period. thats why for a long time, no one could put humbuckers in guitars, Gibson owned the patent, but look how it is now.
@hillbillygenius72 You introduced yourself too much. But that's not gonna take my trust.. But I know Seymour Duncan isn't Fender. And Fender only owns P-90's designed by Seymour. I think Gibson is the first one to make a P-90. So how about that? Ain't ya' satisfied of confusing me?
@z3r0sh1ft First means nothing. The rights to build something become free game when the patent expires. just because Fender uses Duncan pickups doesn't mean that Gibson still owns the design, clearly they would've sued Duncan if they did.
@z3r0sh1ft and my goal wasn't to confuse you, it was to inform you in a civilized manner that just because gibson more commonly uses or invented a product, doesn't mean that they are the only ones who can use it.
@hillbillygenius72 My bad for describing you as a rude one. Your civilized manner actually made me said something rude. But still, it's OUT OF BOUNDS. Coz' my temper's bad but anyways, I didn't say Fender cannot use P-90s. I just want people shut up that says it's a P-90 on a Jazzmaster when it's not and a tune-o-matic when it's not before it gets far. There's a specific Telecaster that HAS a proper tune-o-matic bridge. Since that's it, don't add stuff like Fender can't use P-90.
@z3r0sh1ft Well, it was actually you who brought up the P-90's. and your comment said "it's for Gibson" which I interpreted as you saying only Gibson is allowed to use them, meaning both the pickups and the bridge. And I didn't take anything you said as rude, just misinformed. and with that I say good day.
If you want to play similar guitars to kurt, buy the cheapest, korean/chinese made guitars. Instead of overpaying for something similar, and probably of lesser quality just because it has his name on it.
Kurt was completely against any form of commercialism and hated that his music was so popular... So now that Fender is coming out with this, they're insulting his memory by doing so. Trying to honour the man, but you're only making him roll in his grave.
@ChaosBurnsWithin At the end of the day, a company's goal is to make money. Obviously, Kurt Cobain stuff sells, that's why they're introducing a new mustang. Honor and tributes have nothing to do with it.
@ThieleM You're right, and it has nothing to do with I just said. I meant that when you're showing a guitar that's "exactly the same", for Kurt's fans I guess the amp he played his guitar through and the pedals he used would be a great thing to talk about. Otherwise, some kid would be stoked to get this and play it on his $100 amp, and when it sounds like dirt, you know...
@noxe23 Well they're introducing a Fender product. I'm sure if Kurt used other Fender gear, they would do a signature series as well, unfortunately for Fender, Kurt didn't.
Why would Fender plug another company's effects or amps?
That is absolutely true but saying they shouldn't be doing guitar demos since you contend that the amp is 60% of the end sound...to be honest I actually agree with you for the most part. BUT...the guitar IS a huge part and is the part that most players connect with on a personal level.
If someone is a huge fan of Cobain that guitar could serve as inspiration to play. They will also be collector pieces for many.
@megaluisdeth I don't know why your complaining it's about fucking time that there was a decent mustang on the market rather than them 65 reissue pieces of shit that have the worst pickups I've ever had on a guitar and goes out of tune none stop
Kurt was a genius.. although a self loathing depressed being.. He was stuck with Courtney. Kurt couldn't see shit between his eye.. This fucker could of been anything he wanted if he stuck it out and cleaned himself out and burned and fucked up all the shit licker hanger ons! Fender is just simply trying to make a buck off the legend again.. did in the 2000's era..
Kurt wasn't the greatest guitarist, but if it wasn't for him, most of the music we love today wouldn't exist. Like it or not, he changed the course of rock history, so have a little respect for the dead.
Yeah, we all love Kurt Cobain, and every Nirvana fan would love to have one of these guitars, but... what about being original and not having The Same guitar Kurt used to use??? I think that would be so much better, right?
Cobain's (record company manufactured) Rock Star-dumb really had no point - his guitar playing was sub par... lyrics-wise he was no Jim Morrison, & he had zero taste in "women" Cobain was 'JUST' another pathetic, self-loathing, heroin-addicted pseudo-"artist" on a suicide mission, & to boot he didn't even play the (fugly) JagStang that Fender created for him... now he (posthumously) gets a reissue of an iconic Fender guitar which he had nothing to do w/ creating.
