I had the misfortune of meeting Ryne Sandberg when I was a kid-total jerk. I was 10, my brother 6-we waited two hours in a book store in Gurnee to meet him. When we got to the table he he sat back in his chair irritated as we asked him to sign a baseball card (he was only signing copies of his book which as young kids we didn't have $30 to buy)-the woman sitting next to him asked us to leave Ryno just sit there silently waiting for us to leave. Total jerk.
I was named after Ryne Sandberg... I freakin hate explaining to every person I meet how to say my name. Then they end up calling me Ryan. Oh well. At least my name isn't John or Matt or Josh
i was at that game it was illinois night. Peoria chiefs vs. wisconson timber rattlers. Friday Aug 15 2008. I caught one of the fowl balls. and i got to meet almost all of the players including ryne sandberg
I'm a die hard Cubs fan and can say I was heartbroken when I met Ryne Sandberg as a kid; he was a total asshole. I'm glad this guy and his kid met him in front of a camera so as not to ruin their fandom of him.
i was always a bigger mark grace fan (maybe cause i'm a little younger, i guess) but i'm sure i would have been heartbroken to meet him too. he's a legendary asshole. but the funny kind. like a vince vaughn
Very cool. Ryne Sandberg is a class act and hopefully he will be managing the Cubs next year. I met him during Cubs spring training in Mesa in 2009
