Some movies it is fun to turn on the DVD commentary, because you get to learn more about a movie you've known your whole life from the perspective of those from within. Conan, Resident Evil 1, 2 were the only commentaries I enjoyed. Speaking of which, was there a commentary for Conan the Destroyer? My copy in the USA release didn't have it; just the main movie and a theatrical trailer.

Just felt I had to rep my favorite movie of all time. I've never read the novels so I have nothing to compare the film with. The commentary is hilarious, but this is an inspired movie. It's too bad that Arnold and the fantasy genre has kept so many people from being able to take the film seriously. It has flaws, no doubt, but it's also got a vibrant burning soul. I know I'm in the minority here, but here's hoping someone else relates!

I once met him at a fundraiser announcing his candidacy - back in 2003 or something ... this example of "The Body" is PURE ENTERTAINMENT ... Arnold and Milius sound like they've been drinking Schnapps all afternoon and tell a lot of amusing anecdotes and give insight to some of the shots and locations ie: the 'city' was just an outdoor set with fake fortifications on the hill in the background.

The little documentary is pretty hilarious too, Sandal Berghman says John Milius is the greatest storyteller of our time! I still enjoy this movie (kinda), but Milius should be ashamed at how he raped Robert E. Howard's classic giant of pulp fiction. As a fan of the original books, I really wish they hadn't taken so many liberties with the movie. They could have just taken one of the longer Howard stories and followed it verbatim, that would have been perfectly fine, and a much better movie

The movie Conan is certainly different than the Robert E. Howard incarnation, but I can cut Milius some slack because he managed to create a pretty entertaining and satisfying film, nonetheless. Howard's weird mix of magic and raw brutality is there on the screen. I always had a harder time with Thulsa Doom's two henchmen who often just look like a couple of aging Iron Maiden fans...but I love that they do. We'll be lucky if the inevitable future Conan films are equally as entertaining.

Yes I'd say the movie is alot better if your not a hardcore Howard fan like myself. Taken as a stand-alone movie, its pretty good. I just hate when they give credit to Millius where its not due. Plus Millius calls Howard crazy and a lunatic and shit. I didnt appreciate that. Anyway I heard that the screenplay for a new movie is in the works, and it has even less to do with the books - Conan finds his long lost son?! Good God..I just think the longer stories would make great scripts to follow IMO

My name is Conan Angelo and I'm mentioned by Milius and Arnold in the comentary of the movie Conan the Barbarian. I played 14 parts in the movie. In fact the frame right before the ORGY scene is a photo of me and the first time I was used in the movie. I was a the cave dweller looking at the gutted bodies trying to pick which body to hand down. Milius and Arnold are definitly casual during their conversation where Milius has some depth but Arnold likes to joke around.
