Vegetables lose their nutrition value when combined with processed foods and this especially applies to fried foods. Pizza might seem good in theory, but it's not. Another fun fact is that sugar and the infamous High Fructose Corn Syrup hurts the body's absorbsion of nutrients. This means salad with dressing on it hurts the nutritional value. The majority of us disagree with Congress passing this.
The only reason it did pass, is because of the corporations.. Pizza corporations can't sell their products to our schools because it's unhealthy, which means the corporations lose money. Now that Congress has declared it a "vegetable" they can serve it in our schools again and make money. Republicans screw everyone else just so the corporations can have more money.
Average Americans have no voice anymore.

Vegetables lose their nutrition value when combined with processed foods and this especially applies to fried foods. Pizza might seem good in theory, but it's not. The only healthy fast food I know of is Subway and that's a toss up if you order the wrong thing or get it prepped a certain way. Another fun fact is that sugar and the infamous High Fructose Corn Syrup hurts the body's absorbsion of nutrients. This means salad with dressing on it hurts the nutritional value. Eat healthy America.

You know, I don't like the idea of forcing kids at public schools to eat what's healthy for them. I believe that giving them the option to kill themselves off through type-2 diabetes or cancer helps the evolution of mankind. However, this is the stupidest argument I've ever heard. any plant we eat are vegetables so all fruits we eat are vegetables. But in cooking we separate fruits from vegetables. Yes a tomato does have seeds so it's technically a fruit but in cooking because it contains a low amount of sugar compare to other fruits and its nutritional value is more similar to non-fruit vegetables it's technically consider and used as a vegetable

The tomato sauce on pizza does come from a fruit, but proportionally, a cheese pizza is mostly bread and cheese. Eating cheese pizza, you will very quickly reach your daily limit of carbohydrates, saturated fats, and possibly trans fats, depending on the cheese. If you get your fruit/vegetable serving from pizza, you will be sick. It's like getting your daily Citric Acid serving from 7Up and Sprite, or getting your daily calcium serving from milk chocolate. You will get sick!

For example, comparing 100g of ketchup to 100g of tomatoes, nutritionally speaking, ketchup has more nutrients. Ketchup has 100 cal, 1.74g of protein, 15.1mg of vit C, and 17mg lycopene. All higher than 100g of tomatoes, including sodium. Not exactly healthier, but your statement of there being no tomatoes in ketchup is false

@22banway the facts are if vegetables are processed and not fresh then they've lost 3/4 or ALLof their nutritional value. katchup isn't worth SHIT & you know it. the 4 grams of sugar alone cancel out any 'lycopene' involved. but then again the lycopene was cooked out of the tomatoes when they boiled them over 150 degrees for an hour. pretty common knowledge if you live in a semi-populated suburban or urban environment. Appalachia? not too many people there may know this valuable info.

Respond to this video... No, but it is common knowledge to know that ketchup is made from tomatoes which is what your previous comment said wasn't true. All that sodium and HFCS is removed if you buy organic--which coincidentally is also made from REAL tomatoes too. It isn't health food, but it's a far cry from a big mac.
