I was with I 3/6 24th MEU. Jan - Mar 94 in Somalia. I can say if Billy Bob Clinton wouldnt have lost resolve and he would have let the Army do an Airborne drop about 5 miles inland and let us do an amphib assault after we pulled out and let us meet in the middlle we wouldnt have the problems that we have today!! I was in there for UNITED SHEILD to evac Pakistanis and Italians with 13th MEU (SOC) and the Somalians pissed their pants when they saw us. They had some weird phrase for us that translated "black boots." Al Queida was there and they were scared! We went with Delta and small Ranger team, Seal Team 6 and 3,000 Marines. Warlords and Clinton were afraid we would settle the deal. Clinton had every round shot accounted for!!!!

SirMorganLenox1-I was a Marine in Somalia-the UN was a complete failure. Historically whenever the UN intervenes militarily it is always a failure. A major issue in Somalia was that as it's representatives, the UN chose Paki forces, and I don't know what the beef was between Somali Muslims and Paki Muslims, but I know that the two sides hated each other.
